小龙坎西城店 Xiao Long Kan Hotpot (Westgate)

Tried Xiao Long Kan Hot Pot at Westgate for the first time and it was a great experience! 😊 The restaurant was very clean and the service was good. We ordered the tomato soup base and the butter spicy soup base. Highly recommend the butter spicy soup base if you love spicy food, it was very flavourful! 🌶️ One thing I really liked is that they allow half portions for many dishes. This is perfect if you want to try more varieties of food without ordering too much. The price is reasonable, depending on what you order. There is a $4 charge for sauce and dessert, but it’s worth it, the dessert was delicious Chinese tang yuan. 🍡 Overall, highly recommended if you’re at Westgate and craving hotpot!

Xiao Long Kan at Westgate is a pretty good spot if you’re craving mala-style steamboat. The soup base was rich, spicy, and very fragrant, especially the mala broth which had a nice numbing kick without being overly oily. The sliced beef and pork were fresh and tender after cooking, while the shrimp paste was bouncy and flavourful. The tofu skin and mushrooms absorbed the soup really well too, making them super satisfying to eat. Their ingredients selection was quite decent overall, with enough variety for both meat lovers and veggie lovers. Service was nice and attentive. Staff were friendly and quite fast in helping to refill soup or clear plates. One thing to note is the sauce station costs around $4 per pax, which feels a bit pricey. Atmosphere-wise, it was okay but slightly disappointing. The space felt a little too small and cramped, especially during peak hours, and the vibe was not as lively as some other hotpot places. Still comfortable enough for a casual meal though. Overall, a solid place for mala hotpot with good quality food and service, just let down slightly by the atmosphere and extra charges. ⭐⭐⭐⭐✰ (3.9/5)

Food quality and soup base are actually quite good, the mala feels authentic and actually better than HDL's. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end. The portions are shockingly small. We ordered everything in half portions, and the pricing is already on the high side. After all the add-ons, you’re essentially paying $1 for a single piece of yam — not an exaggeration. You can look at the photo below for the actual price before the usual GST and service charges. Good taste, but extremely poor value for money. Hard to justify coming back.

Quite nice food and fresh. Staff is attentive and they are very nice to let us packed back our unfinished food. Just that the table I was sitting at is very cold.

The service was really great! Very friendly and jovial staff. The soup base though, was really thick and flavorful!
