Tried Tonkotsu Kazan Ramen at Novena, a well-known Japanese ramen spot famous for its “volcano-style” serving. The shop itself is quite small, with limited seating, and I was seated at the bar table. It does feel a bit cramped, especially during peak hours, but still keeps the classic ramen shop atmosphere. I ordered the Shoyu Ramen. The broth was thick, rich, and tasty, with a deep umami flavour that was satisfying without being overly salty. The volcano-style pot helps keep the ramen hot until the very last sip, which is a nice experience overall. I also took the set with gyoza and green tea, priced at around $20. The gyoza was decent but fairly standard, while the green tea was nothing special. The set was okay in terms of value. Overall, it’s a great ramen place if you’re craving a rich and flavourful bowl, especially if you enjoy thicker broths. Rating: 4/5 🍜

Ordered a Shio Ramen and Ponzu Vinegar Karaage at Tonkotsu Kazan Ramen in Novena Square 2 🍜🔥 The meal even came with free hard-boiled eggs, which made it extra satisfying. The Shio Ramen had a light-looking but deeply flavourful broth — clean, savoury, and nicely porky. Every slurp felt comforting and well-balanced. The Ponzu Vinegar Karaage was a hit with my SO. The crispy chicken paired beautifully with the tangy ponzu sauce, cutting through the richness and making it very addictive. They also provide raw peeled garlic soaked in vinegar on the side — bold and punchy. I personally loved adding them in for that extra kick. It was surprisingly good. The broth was rich and flavourful, noodles had a nice chewy texture, and the volcano presentation made the whole experience more fun. Perfect comfort meal if you’re craving hearty Japanese ramen. 🍜🔥

Nice place with really fantastic service! The service staff were really kind and nice, and even offered to help stir the food especially as they were stone pot and very hot. Food was really good too, we got a ramen and the pork fried rice. Oh and they offer free flow eggs!

We loved the free eggs! We ordered the ramen sets, including the karamiso ramen and shio ramen (both with extra chashu), along with gyoza and chicken nanban. The chicken nanban was excellent. However, the chashu was a bit too fatty for our taste, we didn’t finish them, and the gyoza was just average. The waiting time for food was quite long, around 30 minutes.
