I had dinner at Sanook Kitchen - Waterway Point recently and it really surprised me in a good way. Even though I’ve walked past it many times at Waterway Point, this was one of the few times I actually sat down for a proper meal there. Ended up wondering why I didn’t come earlier. We started with the tom yum seafood soup. The moment it arrived, the aroma already very strong in the best way. You can immediately smell the lemongrass and that spicy kick. First sip and confirm wake you up. It had a good balance of sour and spicy, not the kind that just burns for the sake of burning. The seafood was fresh, especially the prawns, which were firm and sweet. The mushrooms and other ingredients soaked up the broth nicely, so every spoonful was packed with flavour. It felt hearty but not too heavy. Their pad thai was another solid dish. The noodles were cooked just right, not soggy, still got bite. The sauce coated everything evenly, giving that slightly sweet and tangy taste that makes pad thai so addictive. There was a good mix of egg, tofu, beansprouts and peanuts, so the texture was on point. I liked that it wasn’t overly oily. Sometimes pad thai can feel a bit jelak halfway through, but this one was quite balanced, so we finished the whole plate without struggling. We also ordered the green curry with rice. That one was super fragrant. The curry had a creamy consistency, rich with coconut milk but still carrying that signature Thai spice. The chicken pieces were tender and absorbed the curry well. Pour the gravy over hot white rice and it was honestly very comforting. Slightly spicy, but manageable, and the flavours felt quite authentic. One thing I appreciate about Sanook Kitchen is that the pricing is quite reasonable for a mall restaurant. Portions are decent, and the quality is consistent. Good place for a casual family dinner or even a quick weekday meal after work. Service was efficient too. The staff were polite and quite prompt when taking orders. Food didn’t take too long to arrive even though it was dinner time and quite crowded. They were attentive when refilling water and clearing plates, which made the whole experience smooth and comfortable. Overall, dining at Sanook Kitchen at Waterway Point was a very satisfying experience. The food had strong flavours, generous portions, and didn’t feel compromised. If you’re around Punggol and craving Thai food that is affordable and reliable, this is definitely a safe choice. I know I’ll be back again when the tom yum craving comes back.

Thoroughly enojoyes having lunch here with my wife and daughter. The Tom Yum noodles dish took longer than usual but the other orders came out pretty quickly. The food was served up hot and the flavours were on point. The service by the staff was commendable and made our experience enjoyable. The energy and vibe that they exuded were really positive and warm. Kudos to the Sanook Waterway Point team!

Completed our order at 6.29pm, had fried rice, fried tofu and spring roll served within 15mins but plain rice was not served at all. By 7pm, when I enquired, the staff just brushed me off by asking me to wait as there was a long queue. Like hello? Long queue for plain rice? And we were still not served the plain rice until I stood up and demanded I have the plain rice right away or if I should just scoop the plain rice myself. They reluctantly did serve but without any word of apology. Pretty speechless I would say.

The deep fried chicken with thai herb and the stir fried kailan was really good and full of flavour. The thai chendol was really great too! However, we wished that the red tom yum chicken was more flavourful as it did not taste as “tom yam” as we expected. Regardless, the service was great and food came fast. One of the waitress helped us with food options. Overall good, hope to have better tomyam next time ☺️🙏
