OVERBRØD

Overbrød had been on my list for a while, and I was excited to finally try it since I haven’t really had proper Scandinavian food. The space and presentation definitely make for a lovely lunch experience. We got the Set Lunch ($25) with the Salmon 2 Ways smørrebrød, tomato fennel soup, and a hot batch brew, plus a half portion of the Smashed Potatoes ($6). The set may sound pricey for toast and soup, but prices are nett. The smørrebrød was beautifully plated and they were generous with the salmon pâté and toppings. The pomegranate seeds added a nice burst of sweetness too. That said, I kinda wished the bread was a bit thicker to better balance everything. The tangy tomato soup on the side helped cut through the richness nicely. The standout for us was the smashed potatoes. Cooked in hay-smoked butter and topped generously with garlic breadcrumbs, tobiko, and saffron mayo, it had great flavour and texture. It did get a little greasy towards the end from the butter pooling at the bottom, but still enjoyable overall. Had the Christmas menu and it was absolutely delicious. It came with a soup, mains for 2, drinks and dessert. The pork roast was so amazing with its super crispy pork skin. The salmon was melt-in-your-mouth tender. I wish these dishes can stay on their permanent menu (or at least keep the Julmust drink) and hopefully there will be more seasonal specials (…maybe midsommar?). 10/10 would recommend! I found out about this place through Reddit, and I thought it was interesting to serve Scandinavian food in Singapore. It was also easy to secure a reservation via WhatsApp. We ordered the meatballs, fried potatoes, fish stew, chicken with waffle and pork sandwiches. Contrary to some other reviews saying the portions are small, each portion is actually enough to be a main for one pax. Many of the items also came with potatoes so we ended up over ordering and couldn't finish all the food. However, the regular items tasted great and I would go back for them! The daily specials, which in this case were the pork sandwich and chicken waffle, were quite normal. The cold brew was also decent. I would return to try more of their dishes, and I recommend you to do so!

Located at Anchorpoint Shopping Centre, this cozy, Scandinavian-themed café and deli serves up authentic Nordic fare that feels both rustic and refined. Think Danish Smørrebrød, Swedish meatballs, hay-smoked buttered potatoes, and even Scandinavian craft beers — all in a clean, minimalist space with warm wood tones and hygge vibes. What I love most? All prices are nett (no GST, no service charge!), and you’re welcome to help yourself to ice water and cutleries — a simple touch that keeps things casual and homey. For weekday lunch, they offer a Build-Your-Own Lunch Set from $25 nett, which comes with 1 Smørrebrød + 1 side + 1 drink. It’s a great way to experience their signature dishes without breaking the bank. Shooting Star Stjerneskud Smørrebrød (+$6 top-up, usual $26) This was the star (literally). A thick, 150g butter-fried halibut forms the base, layered with smoked salmon, salmon roe, asparagus, and their tangy Danish remoulade sauce — all beautifully arranged atop house-made buttered fennel bread. The fish was crisp on the outside yet tender inside, and the rich, creamy sauce tied every element together. Each bite was fresh, indulgent, and perfectly balanced — like the ocean on a plate. Soup of the Day — Mushroom Soup Smooth, creamy, and comforting without being cloying or overly salty. It had that earthy umami depth that pairs wonderfully with the smørrebrød. Smashed Potatoes ($6 add-on) I couldn’t resist adding this on — and it was so worth it. Crispy roasted new potatoes tossed in hay-smoked butter, garlic panko crumbs, and finished with chives and saffron mayo. That saffron mayo, with its golden hue and subtle spice, elevated the humble potato into something truly addictive. Butter, as they say, makes everything better — and here, it really shines. Hot Coffee (Today’s Batch Brew) Strong, bright, and fruity with a deep citrusy finish — a great contrast to the richness of the meal. If you prefer something refreshing, you can also add $1 for their Iced Elderflower or Lingonberry Soda. If you’ve still got space for dessert, their Kanelbullar ($6) — Swedish cinnamon and cardamom bun topped with pearl sugar — makes for the perfect fika moment (that’s Scandinavian for coffee break!). Overbrød captures the heart of Scandinavian comfort food — clean flavours, quality ingredients, and that unmistakable Nordic charm. Whether you’re dropping by after an IKEA run or looking for a quiet lunch spot that transports you to the North, this is one place that deserves a spot on your list. the fisksoppa (fish soup) is creamy, tasty by itself and refreshing, very nice! it came with good amount of potatoes, some fish chunks and prawns. the bread that came with it is nicely toasted. the highlight for us is the stjerneskud (shooting star)! we love the mustard sauce and the halibut is really thick and nicely fried. even the asparagus is very nicely seasoned. wasn't expecting that Scandinavian food can be this tasty, probably also modified to local taste but in a good way. no service charge and GST! will come back to try the other menu if around the area
