I ordered the 3 meat platter for $44 which comes with the beef cheek, pork belly and chicken chop. For sides, i got the fries and pasta ($3 top-up). The beef cheek is fine, but pork belly and chicken chop just average. For sides, both the fries and pasta were just average as well. The pasta sauce is actually pretty good but pasta itself was overcooked, it will be very worth the $3 top up if the pasta can be more al-dente. Overall, i had a decent dinner but i am expecting better quality from all the 5 star reviews here, so i was quite disappointed.

chanced upon this as we were in the vicinity (coming from getting our table at interdesk) and saw the high google rating and queues, so we decided to give this a try. verdict: 4.0 for a coffee shop ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3.5 if this were a restaurant. we were greedy and got the 3 meat sharing platter (beef cheek, pork belly and chicken) despite only being 2 of us. if you're in your thirties and having a reduced appetite with ageing, this was too much. 🤣 the beef cheek was tender and smoky, and somewhat reminded me of texas barbecue. the pork belly was alright, a little on the dry side. the chicken was decent and i enjoyed the cream sauce that came with it. we chose aglio olio and salad as our sides - the aglio olio is a non-spicy version, came al dente and was slightly salty but pretty decent! the salad had a nice balance of nuts, cranberries and even the fried beancurd skin was interesting.

My recent excursion to Mad Charcoal during the sun-drenched lunch hour proved to be more than a mere meal; it was a masterclass in the delicate choreography between fire and freshness. The plate arrived with an architectural grace that belied its rustic origins. Resting atop a dark, leaf-shaped vessel, the Pork Belly sat in a triumphant row of golden-brown tiles. Beside it, a verdant sprawl of romaine, punctuated by the ruby-red arc of tomato wedges and the golden shards of what appeared to be crisp beancurd skin, offered a vibrant visual counterpoint. One does not simply eat this pork; one experiences the Maillard reaction in its most evolved state. The skin boasted a glass-like shatter, yielding to a layer of rendered fat that possessed a velvety mouthfeel, nearly liquifying upon contact. The meat itself remained impeccably succulent, whispering of a long, disciplined roast that preserved its structural integrity while infusing it with a deep, umami-rich soul. The subtle, char-kissed aroma lingering on the palate provided a haunting reminder of the charcoal’s transformative power. To find such technical proficiency at a lunchtime special price point feels almost like a heist. While the evening service may offer a more lingering ambiance, the midday experience at Mad Charcoal is a streamlined, high-octane celebration of smoke and seasoning. It is proof that high-caliber culinary execution need not always come with a staggering premium.

The dishes ordered are superb, though is a bit salty but flavorful. Platter of 3 (lamb rack, pork belly, chicken) Fish and chips (meat is nice but the crisp can be improved Mushroom soup is thick and tasty. Salad is great too. Grilled broccoli a bit oil The boss and staff are friendly and helpful when ordering too.

Omg... This is one of the best meals I had in a long while. I ordered the pork belly with sweet potato cubes. The meat was sweet, succulent and melts in your mouth!! Sweet potatoes were crispy on the outside and soft in the inside. I like how it comes with a small portion of sauerkraut to reset my taste buds after awhile. Love it! I'm glad I travelled half the island for this and it won't be my last time visit this place.
