borneo food! satay is damn nice - super big chunky succulent well marinated chicken!!! better than sq biz class satay the fried rice had a lot of wok hey, but the dry laksa was mid. it wasn't laksa noodle but more like mee sua noddle skip the giant platter.... the prawns were super fresh and crunchy, and meats well cooked but i think not worth $168 (usual price $208)
The laksa was absolutely great. The thin noodles were springy, the broth was rich and flavourful, and the sambal served alongside it was delicious, with plenty of prawn paste that added depth and umami to the dish. That said, at $24 before GST, it's definitely on the pricey side for a bowl of laksa. While the quality and flavours were excellent, the price may be on the higher side. The corn ribs were decent, but I felt they could have been a little sweeter. The fried broccoli was somewhat disappointing—it didn’t really seem fried and was a bit too salty. One area that could be improved is the payment process. It would be more convenient if the staff could bring the bill to the table instead of requiring customers to go to the counter to make payment.
We came here to try the April’s fool prank dessert and it was a great dining experience! The vibe is chill, surrounded by lush greenery with that iconic HSBC Rain Vortex view from the top level! We tried the Headhunter Pansuh Set ($32), a hearty spread with tender bamboo chicken, pusu bawang, paku (wild jungle fern), umai jellyfish, purple rice and keropok lekor. The sides were so addictive, especially the paku that was fresh and appetising. Another standout is the Ikan Balut ($16), grilled golden pomfret wrapped in banana leaf with aromatic ginger flower. Light, buttery and packed with flavour. Not to forget the Sarawak Laksa ($24) with a rich and flavourful broth made with over 30 spices. The Sotong Bakar ($20) was just as good. Drinks-wise, the Coconut Shake was super refreshing with generous coconut bits, and the Sarawak Teh C Special ($10) was not overly sweet. Don’t miss the dirty sponge cake to end your meal! They also gave us a complimentary dirty sink water to try 🤣
Walking into KANTIN feels like stepping straight into a rainforest hideout. The space is designed with lush greenery, warm wooden textures and natural lighting that mimics the ambiance of Borneo’s jungles. The Headhunter Pansuh Set is a great choice if you to sample traditional tastes. The chicken was tender and absorbs the flavourful broth. The umai jellyfish is crunchy with subtle spice flavours. The pusu bawang leans more savoury with a slight tanginess while the belacan bamboo shoots was unique with their savoury spice profile. The Sarawak laksa is different from the versions we are familiar with. It is lighter yet flavourful with a more herbal and less heavy profile. I love the version of noodles that they use which was thinner yet more crunch. The kambing asap is smoky that carries an earthy flavour from the herbs used. The ikan balut arrives wrapped in banana leaves releasing a fragrant aroma upon serving. For drinks, the Sarawak Teh C Special gula apong adds depth and enhances the tea’s natural fragrance without making it overly sweet. The coconut shake a lot of coconut bits and the palm sugar syrup served on the side allowing you to customise the sweetness to your liking. If you happen to chance upon their seasonal Aprils fool sponge cake, do try them. Was yummy and fun looking
Ahoy! No passport needs to enjoy Sarawak Borneo food! Had a really enjoyable dining experience here. The food was flavourful and nicely presented, especially the grilled dishes with sambal belacan. And don’t forget to try prank dessert. Hahaha . Great place to chill with family and friends. Service was friendly too. Would come back again
