Hopscotch (Gardens by the Bay)

I visited this restaurant to celebrate my partner’s birthday and made a reservation in advance. Unfortunately, while the atmosphere and interior were beautiful, the overall dining experience was extremely disappointing. I ordered the steak based on the photos online and the positive reviews. What arrived looked nothing like what was advertised. The steak was incredibly thin, and I highly doubt it was the stated 250g portion. For a dish costing almost $40, the quality and portion size were nowhere near acceptable. It felt misleading and definitely not worth the price. We also ordered a pasta dish that was highly recommended by the waiter, who assured us it was worth trying. Unfortunately, it tasted more like hokkien mee with a slight drizzle of truffle oil. The truffle flavour was barely noticeable, and the dish was far from what I would expect from a restaurant positioning itself as upscale. The service was equally disappointing. Despite having a reservation for a special occasion, we were initially brought to sit at the bar counter. The area in front of us was cluttered with miscellaneous items and hadn’t even been properly cleared. At the same time, I could see multiple empty tables available. When I asked if we could be seated at one of those tables, I was told they were reserved for other guests. That response left me speechless because I had also made a reservation. It made no sense why other reservations seemed to take priority over ours. Only after I questioned this a second time did the waiter return and tell us they could clear a table for us. First impressions matter, especially when guests are celebrating a special occasion. Being directed to a cluttered bar counter despite having a reservation, only to be moved after pushing back, did not make us feel welcomed or valued. The ambience is great, but unfortunately the food, value for money, and service did not live up to the standards this restaurant appears to market itself on. I won’t be returning.

Most of the food we ordered were delicious but the Lobster pasta dish i had was quite disappointing. Staff were all friendly and helpful The restaurant is spacious. We can't remember what drinks we had but they were all excellent.

First visit to hopscotch at Gardens. Seated indoor with relatively nice view of garden. Menu items also look interesting and unique. However the taste of food was bad. Fish and chips tasted very oily and not crispy. Sweet and sour ribs texture was fine but tasted weird not the sweet and sour expected but some savoury flavour that doesn’t taste really good. Decided to skip any dessert from there. Disappointing pre birthday meal.

Had a great lunch with family. Great service from John. Food was fresh tasty and overall awesome. Had Lunch Special Set with Appetiser. Wild Mushroom soup, Panggang Pork Belly, Duck Confit and Chocolate Fudge Brownie. Duck confit was lightly crisp and meat was tender and well cooked. Brownie was nice and Warm topped with ice cream and banana crisp.

Hosted a birthday party here today (10-20people). The staffs were very friendly, professional and helpful - thank you so much for making this a wonderful evening for us. Keep up the wonderful work!!! This place is very underrated - it has good views, and also the cocktails at hopscotch is really friendly. Highly recommend esp if you are exploring around the area!
