Had a great breakfast and five-course dinner at Forage. The bread, black cod, and dessert from the dinner course were delicious, and the portions for the two of us were just right. For breakfast, the menu was not overwhelming and had just the right amount of selection. Overall it’s pretty nice. Haryono, Khang, and VG were very attentive and made us feel comfortable and well taken care of. There is also an observation deck where you can watch the sunrise. Unfortunately, it was cloudy on the day we visited, but the views were still beautiful. I would definitely recommend this restaurant, especially if you are staying at the resort.

Dining here felt like an exclusive experience. Truly a gem nestled away in this resort sanctuary. Immaculate vibes, impressive food. I had the 8-course menu and the food was really delicious - from the sourdough & cheese bread, through every single course. Each course was innovative and layered with complex flavours, using sustainably sourced or home-grown ingredients. Chef Marcus & team hit the spot and set the bar high! Impeccable service by Khang - most thoughtful, proactive, and attentive to detail. Top-notch! This restaurant definitely deserves to be shoulder to shoulder among the best.

Had three meals at Forage during our staycation at Mandai Rainforest Resort by Banyan Tree, and each one was a pleasant treat. As part of the Treehouse Retreat package, we enjoyed complimentary afternoon tea, a 5-course dinner, and an à la carte buffet breakfast — all with a lovely nature-facing view that made the dining experience even more relaxing. The afternoon tea selection was relatively limited, but the quality was good and nicely presented. For dinner, we decided to top up to the 8-course menu (note: the upgrade from 5 to 8 courses is $100++ per pax). The seafood was fresh and the dishes had some creative touches — our favourites were the cod fish and the chawanmushi, both beautifully done. Breakfast the next morning was an à la carte buffet with a good variety to choose from, making it a nice start to the day before heading out to explore Mandai. Service felt a little inconsistent across our visits — some staff were warm and professional, while others could have been more attentive and hospitable. That said, overall it was still a good dining experience with quality food.

Updated Review: It was our first time dining at Forage and the experience initially started off very well. The view and venue are truly top-notch, and we thoroughly appreciated the ambiance and sense of privacy throughout the meal. We had opted for the course lunch and enjoyed it so much that we decided to continue our afternoon with the high tea set as well. The portions were quite generous and, despite our best efforts, we were unable to finish some of the pastries. When I approached one of the staff earlier to check if there was a takeaway box available, I was informed that there were none, and the only alternative offered was to wrap the pastries in napkins. I understand that some establishments may have policies regarding takeaway, but it felt a little unusual given the setting, and unfortunately the request seemed to have been overlooked after some time. However, I would like to acknowledge the excellent service recovery that followed. VG and Haryono personally assisted us and ensured that we were well taken care of. We returned to try the new menu and had a very enjoyable lunch — the salmon and pork dishes were both well executed. We ended up staying through to high tea again, and the attentiveness of the staff together with the quality of the food truly stood out. Their effort to make things right was very much appreciated and made for a much better overall experience. A special thank you as well to Ridzwan for arranging everything and ensuring the experience was well looked after. We truly appreciate the warm hospitality from the team.

An exceptional dining experience at Forage. It’s refined, thoughtful, and beautifully executed from start to finish. The menu truly lives up to its “guided by nature” philosophy. Each course was elegant and well-balanced with flavours. Highlights included the skipjack tuna with pistachio and nori cream, the delicate Beijing cabbage with foie gras and shiitake broth, and the perfectly cooked miso black cod with yuzu. The Boston lobster with green curry was especially memorable! I want to eat it again :) The Wagyu striploin was outstanding, cooked just right and paired wonderfully with seasonal mushrooms and black shallot. Desserts were equally impressive, light and refreshing, ending the meal on a graceful note. Service was attentive without being intrusive, and the overall pacing of the meal felt just right. A truly polished and memorable experience at Forage. Highly recommended for a special occasion or when you want a dining experience that’s both soulful and sophisticated.
