4.25/5 We visited many years ago and still remember several dishes from that meal, including the ter kar beehoon, which my mother still recalls as the best she has had. The pork trotters were tender, well-cooked, and very flavourful. The fish soup was rather bland and unremarkable. The Singapore-style chilli prawns, however, were less impressive, coming across as overly tangy and ketchup-forward but the har cheong sotong was excellent, they were crisp and addictive, with the fermented prawn flavour distinct without being overpowering. The cabbage in fish sauce was also flavourful with good wok hei, and the chendol panna cotta was a successful modern reinterpretation of a local dessert. Revisiting the restaurant recently via delivery, I was pleasantly surprised that it has maintained its standards over the years. While a few dishes were not quite as memorable as before, the overall quality remains high, which is no small feat after such a long time. We also ordered the pig trotters beehoon this time. As I usually don’t eat much pork, I only tried the beehoon, while my mother felt the pork trotters were not quite as good as she remembered. The beehoon itself was still very enjoyable. The prawn tanghoon was a pleasant surprise. It absorbed the flavours of the broth well and was one of the better versions I’ve had in Singapore, though still ranked below Som Sak Pu Ob. Each portion came with three fairly large prawns. The seafood fried rice was competent, with noticeable wok hei and a generous amount of ingredients, including squid, two small scallops, and several large prawns. While most of the seafood tasted reasonably fresh, it lacked the natural sweetness of higher-quality seafood, suggesting frozen ingredients may have been used. The portions were generous, and the packaging was well sealed with cling wrap, preventing any spills. Overall, the food travelled well and remained enjoyable even via delivery. I would be happy to revisit in the future to try more of their dishes.
Finally checked out Enjoy Eating House & Bar and it did not disappoint. We started with the fried mushrooms which were crispy and addictive, a solid starter. The cod otah was fragrant and well-balanced, definitely one of the better versions I’ve had. The chilli prawn with mantou was the star of the show. Rich, savoury, slightly spicy, and just perfect with the mantou. Ignore the small portion in the photo… we already ate a few before remembering to take it. The pig trotter bee hoon was a bit underwhelming for me. It’s decent but lacks that deep, braised flavour you’d expect. Could be better. On the other hand, the Hainan chicken satay was really good. Juicy, tender, and nicely grilled. The pork cheek was another highlight, very well executed and full of flavour. Beef tenderloin was solid too, cooked well and satisfying. Overall, a really enjoyable meal with a few standout dishes. Would definitely come back, especially for that chilli prawn again.
Had a really enjoyable dining experience at Enjoy Eating House & Bar. The food was well-executed and full of flavour across the board. The Pad Thai Goong was nicely balanced with a good mix of tangy and savoury notes, complemented by fresh prawns. The garlic fried pork was a standout—crispy, fragrant, and packed with flavour without being overly greasy. We also tried the Chef Joel’s Mee Kia, which was simple yet satisfying and done just right. Overall, a great spot for comforting dishes in a casual setting. Service was friendly, and the atmosphere made it easy to sit back and enjoy the meal. Would definitely return to try more dishes!
Ordered their Christmas bundle for 6 to 8 people. I would say the portions are really generous it could have fed I would say even 10 people. The bundle came with a roasted chicken marinated with lemon grass. The taste was pretty good. The Xmas bundle had a lot of vegetables as sides to accompany the very flavourful aromatic raisin butter rice. All the goodness of the roasted chicken and pork ribs their juices dripped nicely into the rice. The Rendang pork ribs was nice and tender, but personally I found it to be a bit fatty but it’s just a matter of personal preference would definitely order if I had gathering.
We went there for a birthday lunch as my brother read that their Hokkien mee was very good. But when we found the price was $40, we decided to opt for Grandma's pork leg beehoon. After all, both were noodles. We also had satay, har cheong chicken wings, kai lan with roast pork, yam rice and ngoh hiang. The satay and chicken wings were very good. So was the yam rice which came in small bowls but had lots of ingredients. The veggies was average and the pork slices in it were dry and hard. The beehoon was nice although I was expecting the usual MaLing pork leg, the chef actually stewed their own pork leg. It was not bad although a bit light in colour and flavour. The worst dish was the ngoh hiang. My sister-in-law said it was a meatloaf instead. The size was generous and so was the stuffing. However, it wasn't really tasty and the skin was limp and pale. My hubby said there wasn't any ngoh hiang taste - no 5-spice flavour. We had the Teochew Orh Ni and Chendol Panna Cotta for dessert. Nothing really stood out. The cafe is in a separate building just outside the Novotel Mercure hotel. Parking was very convenient although it was a bit expensive at $2.40/hr. The decor is old Singapore with interesting knick-knacks. The menu is printed like the old daily tear out calendar. Innovative. The decor is quite pretty but not doesn't strike one as authentic. They had 1 print of an artist, Glenn Phua, on display. It'd have been more impactful if they had more of his urban sketching artwork. It was lively and interesting. The service was haphazard with the sambal chilli not served till I requested twice. We had 4 adults and 2 kids but they gave us 4 sets of cutlery till we asked for 2 more. It seems they are understaffed as there were only 2 waiters. The vegetable dish came late while the ngoh hiang came quite fast although we ordered it later. Overall food was not bad but a bit slow. Don't think I'll go back to this outlet again. For that price point, we can get much better Zhi Cha in many parts if Singapore.
