Chanced upon this restaurant while scouting for new and highly rated eateries on Google Maps. We were surprised by how small it was — about six indoor air‑conditioned seats and roughly fourteen outdoor seats along the walkway. Still, we managed to get an indoor table and were served by a friendly couple who run the entire place themselves. Google reviews recommended the pork knuckles, chicken leg, and potato salad, so we ordered the meat platter set plus an extra potato salad. The dishes did not disappoint and tasted far better than expected. With the cosy space and the warm, service‑oriented couple, the whole experience almost felt like a private dining lunch. Overall, highly recommended.

Pleasantly surprised by the quality of food and warm service here. Stopped by for a late lunch with the wife and we thoroughly enjoyed the baked barramundi, capsicum and pork knuckle steak. The portions were just nice, large enough, but not too much to eat, especially the pork knuckle. There were many other attractive items on the menu, will definitely come back again when I'm in the area. If you like good German food, be sure to come by this place!

Damian & Sharon are the most wonderful, generous and gracious people. Wonderful conversationalists and deep humans. I had an unexpected magical evening with them that lasted 4-5 hours. Good food, great atmosphere, consummate hosts all came together for an unexpected eclectic and magical evening when I serendipitously decided, in the spur of the moment, to sit down to eat at their restaurant for the very first time ever. Highly recommended! You will not regret trying it out. Damian is the nephew of the wonderful couple that used to run Werner’s Oven for many years.

I don’t leave reviews for places, usually only when they offer freebies. However, I just had to leave a review for this place, on my second visit here. Tiny hidden gem near Eunos, super homely and welcoming owners who make an effort to get to know their customers. Pork knuckle was authentic and delicious, crispy and tender. Generous portion sizes. Potato salad’s really good. That German mustard relish (dip? condiment?) was super tasty, I usually have to ask for refills, which they were happy to accommodate.

Both were cooked to perfection, tender on the inside with just the right bite on the outside. What impressed me most was the seasoning: the spices were not overwhelming, instead allowing the natural flavors of the meat to shine through. As you chew, the subtle spice slowly reveals itself, leaving a pleasant aftertaste that makes you want another bite. The highlight of the evening for me, however, was the escargot. Perfectly prepared, the escargot was juicy, fleshy, and carried a richness that paired wonderfully with the bread served alongside it. Each bite was indulgent, yet not heavy, making it a dish I would gladly return for again and again. Overall, Common Taste delivers not just on food but also on atmosphere and hospitality.
