Somehow this place is always not crowded despite serving very good Jap curry at good price. I have been coming here regularly for years and despite staff turnover, their service is always very good. Special mention!! The service is so good they will hand u a phone holder if they see u watching something while u are eating!! Check out the pic!! This is a good place to have meal in the area for good value for money and to escape crowd. They also have great deals for beers if u are in the mood!
Whenever I have a craving for Japanese curry in Singapore, coco Ichiban ya serves really great warm your heart ❤️ kind of curry! It’s been a while since my last time so I was really happy to see that the standards of food is still kept as I remembered it :) Also, the taste and portion of the curry rice is still nice and hearty. I’m also very thankful that service was really kind as I was on crutches and they helped me move the table to get into the seat. Really makes for a great experience. Thank you we will be back!! 🥰
Food is still good especially the thick-cut Katsu. However, the service left alot to be desired. My order of the Katsu Curry Rice with Add-on Bacon Spinach was served separately, by the time the add-on came, the curry almost turn lukewarm. They provide drinking water FOC but it wasn't served automatically, we have to ask for it. Food was also served without cutleries, again we have to ask for it. I know there were only 2 service staffs but it wasn't a very big outlet, the busyness was partly due to their improficiency to their own SOP.
If I could give 6 stars for service I would to a specific server, James. He is very attentive, offering me a phone stand as I was scrolling on social media. He checked in very regularly while i was dining and made sure the food was okay. He takes initiative to clear plates almost the moment they are empty too. I only have one comment which is that my food took quite long to arrive (nearly 30 min) and the vegetables are not so good, but the service made up for it! I could have been an exception to the long wait time though, as others got their food quite quickly.
We ordered the Pork cutlet omu rice and the ramen. The food was magnificent. Service was good and the staff were very attentive. We were even served warm water. Great experience dining here
