Overall it was a decent experience. The ambience was good - comfortable, lively and suitable for a casual meal or drinks with friends. The place has a nice setting, and it does give off the kind of relaxed German dining atmosphere you would expect. Service was also good. The staff were friendly and attentive enough, and the overall dining flow was smooth. No major complaints on the service side. Food-wise, it was okay only. Nothing was really bad, but nothing stood out strongly either. For a German restaurant, I was expecting the food to be more memorable, with stronger flavours or better execution. It was still edible and acceptable, just not something I would describe as fantastic. Overall, Brotzeit is a nice place for ambience and service, especially if you are there for casual dining or drinks. But if you are mainly going for the food, keep expectations moderate.

There’s something quietly luxurious about white asparagus season, and Brotzeit Singapore brings that experience beautifully to the table with their limited-time Spargel Wochen menu. Available from now to 14 June 2026, this seasonal showcase celebrates Germany’s beloved “White Gold” - a delicacy so prized that Germans eagerly await Spargelzeit every spring. What makes white asparagus special is its subtle sweetness and delicate texture. Grown entirely underground away from sunlight, it stays beautifully ivory-white, tender, and less bitter than green asparagus. At Brotzeit, the ingredient truly shines across the menu, whether you’re after something hearty, comforting, or lighter and more refined. The standout for me has to be the Schweinsschnitzel mit Weissem Spargel - a crisp golden pork schnitzel paired with tender white asparagus, parsley potatoes, and a silky hollandaise sauce that ties everything together effortlessly. It’s rich yet balanced, and exactly the kind of dish that feels comforting without being overly heavy. If you’re dining in a group, the Spargelplatte is honestly the way to go. Loaded with white asparagus, Black Forest ham, honey-baked ham, crispy schnitzels, and generous servings of hollandaise, it captures the communal spirit of German spring dining so well. Another dish that deserves a mention is the Rindersteak mit Weissem Spargel, which pairs a juicy, flavourful steak with the delicate sweetness of white asparagus. The contrast between the robust beef flavours and the light, tender asparagus works well, especially with the creamy hollandaise and potatoes on the side. I also appreciated how the menu doesn’t just focus on heavy meats. The Spargel Bärlauch Risotto was creamy, earthy, and comforting, while the White Asparagus Cream Soup made for a warm and elegant start to the meal. The asparagus flavour comes through gently rather than overpoweringly, which makes it approachable even for first-timers. To complete the experience, pairing the dishes with the Original Zwick’l Kellerbier felt almost mandatory. The unfiltered lager’s malty, slightly caramel notes complemented the sweetness of the asparagus beautifully.

Two of us ordered a pork knuckle and a plain rosti for sharing. The knuckle is huge and crispy, so much that we could barely finish it. I do wish that they were more generous with the mustard and gravy serving; it’s too little for the size of the knuckle. Rosti is amazing, plain and simple. The beers are decent. It quite crowded due to Vesak day long weekend but still a cosy environment to eat, drink, and chill.

The standout for me was the crispy pork knuckle—crackling skin with tender, flavorful meat inside. The sausages were juicy and packed with flavor, while the schnitzel was crispy without being overly greasy. Paired with a cold German beer, it felt like an authentic Bavarian dining experience. The portions were very generous and ideal for groups, making it great value for money. Service was friendly and efficient despite the restaurant being busy, and the waterfront atmosphere at VivoCity added to the overall experience. If you’re looking for hearty comfort food and a satisfying meat feast, the Brotzeit Platter is definitely worth ordering. A great spot for gatherings, celebrations, or simply indulging in classic German cuisine

Brotzeit had my 5 stars until I experienced this. Ok first, limited seatings, forcing you to sit outside. When sitting at the counter, quite comfortable, cos no place to put your feet on. Waiter or bartender on shift on 9 May evening, was super stressed up. For a person (me) sitting at the counter, you can feel his level of frustration (dragging and trashing the huge metal beer barrel), very unsightly. Another thing I happened to realize was he took out a half cup of beer which was in the fridge and filled it up to the brim, which made me think “huh? Why was there half a beer in the fridge? Why are they not freshly poured??? I see their staff also wasting beer, pouring the brim of the beer over and over again, probably to take away the foam or whatever. When I asked the waiter for a glass of water, water is chargeable $2 ??!!!!! Let’s talk food now, pork ribs is nice, but super salty (same as the wedges). Good value for money for the 4 beers for 25 as it comes with 4 sides. The sides were a little underwhelming. The salami or sausage given was so dry and hard. The rosi was disappointing. You get brownie points for a clean a counter top and kinda private dining if you sat at the counter top near the side. Overall bill came up to 69 sgd per pax, for a 2 pax dining experience. Cocktails was super duper worth it, just so much to drink. Food took a while to arrive (20 mins?) but it’s a bearable wait. They need to find ways to keep your beer cool as it cools off real fast. Maybe might come back again for the fried pork knuckles but all in all, underwhelming experience.
