Botak Cantonese Porridge

18/5/26 at 1pm - Rainy weather =>hot meal 🤗 My order of fish pork porridge took 10mins to be ready. The estimated timing was helpful as I went to buy my coffee and “chope” a seat! 👍piping hot bowl of Cantonese gooey congee 👍spring onion & fried shallots already included, so I just added some pepper 👍sliced Batang fish was fresh 😬Only 4 slices of fish detected! 😬minced pork was embedded in the porridge so I cannot tell the quantity but didn’t seem to be a lot! 😬yu tiao was the crispy super thick type but not overly oily. Not the healthiest version! 👎my bowl was placed on a tray with wet stains and that was a huge turn off😱 Immediately I took my bowl out of tray and returned the tray! sliced fish porridge $5.50 + minced pork $1.30 Total $6.80 Conclusion: Porridge was very hearty with a decent amount of protein to make it a filling meal. But at $6.80, there are many lunch options that give better value especially on good weather days. 📍Note - this bowl of porridge contained 1,800mg of sodium (per HPB website). The daily recommended limit for adult is 2,000mg.

I really wanted to like this cos the boss is as cute in person as on TikTok. But, unfortunately, I didn’t. Even with added soya sauce, a heap of red cut chili and loads of pepper, it was pretty bland. I did see a sign for paying it forward/free meals for elderly so it could be healthier option for the elderly. The porridge was dense and smooth though. I had the minced pork porridge ($3.50) + egg ($0.70). Still cheaper than my preferred streak at 724 AMK but I think I’ll stick to that.

1st time trying this porridge. Ordered the $4.80 mixed porridge. Darn yums! Fresh sliced meat - soft & tender, pork balls (definitely homemade), fat thick cuttlefish (definitely not stingy), lots of century egg, & my favourite the tender & cooked so awesomely just nice liver! The you tiao crispy n tasty! Hmmmmm! I truly enjoyed the porridge as a first timer! Lady boss super sweet, pretty, friendly, sincere! She told me she has another shop at BEDOK blk 217. Will definitely patronize! Yum yum yum!

Went back for the second time! I thought I had already left a Google review the first time because I clearly remember taking a million photos of the food (that’s how good it was). Turns out… I was just aggressively raving about it to my friends on Telegram and completely forgot to post it here 😂 So today, I forced my boyfriend to travel all the way to Punggol with me just to eat this porridge again. I even confidently told the staff I had “reviewed it last time after eating” (oops). Despite that, they were super kind and still gave us youtiao and such a generous portion, I was so happy 🥹 also shoutout to the cashier guy for not being pushy or demanding proof of the post. Honestly, I really love this porridge might be my favourite porridge ever. The seafood one is AMAZING. The prawns are so succulent that the moment I bit into one, I swear my soul floated a little. The eggs are cooked just right and the youtiao and ginger in the porridge elevate everything to another level. 10/10, will happily force my boyfriend to come again

First time trying Botak porridge. Their prices are very reasonable, ingredients are quite alot as well,they are very thoughtful to write the no and the type of porridge on the cover so when I reach home,I don't need to dig into the porridge to check which is which. The aroma of the porridge is very prominent the moment I open the cover. A very good bowl of porridge!!
