Had a wonderful lunch experience here! The food was authentic and delicious, with a Korean chef preparing the dishes, which really shows in the quality and taste. The service staff from Myanmar were exceptionally friendly, attentive, and welcoming, making the dining experience even more enjoyable. The lunch sets are also fantastic value at only around $8.90, with generous portions that are sure to satisfy. Another big plus is the ample parking available right in front of the restaurant, making it very convenient to visit. Great food, great service, great value — definitely a place I’ll be coming back to again!
Food is decent and served efficiently. Soybean paste soup with beef was rich and flavorful. Seafood pancake had a light taste without being overly salty. It was nicely panfried with a slightly crispy bottom and a moist interior. The staff were welcoming. We did not order bbq and comfortably finished dinner within an hour.
The food was delicious! We had the lunch set and shared a plate of kimchi pancake. The kimchi pancake was authentic and the right amount of crunch. But above all, the staff especially Kannan was super nice. Very friendly and gave us a free side dish as well. Will definitely be coming back.
Friendly staff, excellent service and fresh meats with delicious side dishes! Ordered $75 bbq meat set and serving was generous. The marinated meats were nice and tender. It was a wholesome and enjoyable lunch.
TL;DR: Came late, made them close late, spent $400 on amazing boneless beef short ribs, beer and makgeolli, and still got free dishes. Hidden Serangoon KBBQ gem worth visiting. 🤤 BBQ Friend is a cozy neighbourhood KBBQ spot about a 10–15 minute walk from NEX / Serangoon MRT Exit B. My cousin found this place through Google Reviews, and it ended up being one of those rare hidden gems you’re glad still exists. On our first visit, we didn’t realise they close at 10pm — she arrived around 9pm and I only reached at 9:40pm. Despite that, the owner kindly allowed us to continue dining until about 11:15pm so we didn’t have to rush. We felt really paiseh, but extremely thankful. The boss is genuinely friendly, bubbly, and makes you feel very welcome. 👍🏻 Food quality is excellent. The meats are well-marinated — flavourful but not overpowering — and remain tender and juicy without feeling overly greasy. Our all-time favourite is the boneless beef short ribs, which were simply the best. Super tender and rich in flavour. The seafood pancake (Haemul-pajeon) and steamed egg (Gyeran-jjim) were also fantastic, and we were pleasantly surprised to receive them complimentary on both visits. Alcohol pricing is reasonable for a KBBQ spot. Terra beer is about $14, and makgeolli is 5 bottles for $120, which made it very easy for us to keep the night going. We spent about $400–$500 per visit for 4–6 people, including plenty of meat, beer, and makgeolli, and left very satisfied each time. The restaurant itself is clean, cozy, and comfortable. It’s not very big, which makes it perfect for small groups, family dinners, or casual catch-ups. Service is attentive and efficient, though it can slow slightly once the dinner crowd comes in. Overall, great food, standout boneless beef short ribs, warm hospitality, and a comfortable neighbourhood KBBQ experience. Definitely worth visiting if you’re in the Serangoon area, and I would return again!
