Date of visit: 2 April 2026 Tried Basil King at Sengkang for the first time. Ordered the double egg pork basil rice with spicy level. The flavour was good, but it was very spicy for me. Next time, I’ll definitely ask for less spice. Overall, an interesting first experience. As also mentioned basil king, was thinking to have a tom yam soup small to go with it that will be great.
Would consider it somewhat a substitute to the one in Bangkok. The spicy level is toned down a little, perhaps to cater to the local taste bud. Would opt for the extra spicy instead of normal spicy. To be honest, the Bangkok one was better but this is considered decent enough for me to come back again when am craving for basil pork rice. Wait time was around 15 mins as we came by during the dinner crowd on a weekday. Will come back again when am around the area. Would suggest to top up the portion of the protein if you would like your meal to be more enjoyable, which i did for mine.
First time trying the copy of Phed Mark, Basil King. Nearest outlet is this one. Had the pork with 2 eggs and level 3 spicy. Taste wasnt comparable to phed mark and I meant the sauce. The spiciness was there, the egg was really similar. It was still not bad overall. Rice was quite alot compared to the amount of meat given. Can try try
I came here on New Year’s Eve (Wed) around 7pm. I ordered the Basil Prawn with 4 eggs and level 2 spiciness. It came out to 11.90 The worker serving me was not very friendly. I ordered prawn but she heard as pork and glared at me. I received my food within 10mins. The eggs were fried fresh and food was hot. The prawns were quite fresh and tender. I would recommend others to get more eggs for non prawn items. In hindsight, I would have ordered 2 eggs because the prawns had shells.
Don't taste authentic in my opinion. Seems like the basil pork is already precooked and the chef stir fry again upon my order. Basil was pathetic and the dish taste like just stir fry pork without basil. Ordered level 5 and indeed is spicy for my tastebud.
