I have heard quite a bit about Basil King, and after a strong recommendation from a colleague, I decided to give it a try. Basil King essentially serves rice topped with a sunny side up egg and your choice of meat, chicken, beef, pork, prawns, or pork belly. You can also select your preferred spice level, ranging from Level 1 (non-spicy) to Level 5. On top of that, diners can choose anywhere from a single egg to a rather eye-catching quadruple egg option, which definitely stands out. went with the double egg meal with basil pork at Level 1, playing it safe on the spice level. The eggs were skillfully done and aesthetically pleasing, with runny yolks that paired well with the white rice. However, the disappointment came from the basil pork. It lacked the distinct fragrance and taste of basil, tasting more like stir-fried minced pork served with rice and egg rather than a basil dish. My friend also ordered the basil pork with a single egg, but the yolk had already slipped out of the egg white. This made the overall presentation look inconsistent, suggesting that the standard and consistency might not be well maintained. All in all, the flavours did not quite meet my expectations, though it still makes for a filling meal. If you prefer a lighter basil fragrance, this might suit your taste.

The Malaysian lady is friendly and nice. Entire store maintained clean and neat. Level 2 spiciness is god spicy for a not really take spice person like me. But I will still recommend it. Egg is definitely perfectly done. Like it so much. Minced pork has a strong oyster sauce taste and basil leaves that blends well with the meat. Generous amount of meat given and Upsize is definitely worth it thou is $1 for rice and $2 for protein.

Had an amazing basil pork rice! The minced pork was juicy and well-seasoned, and it paired perfectly with the rice and single yolk egg. What impressed me most was how every bite was full of flavor without being overwhelming. The portion was generous, the ingredients tasted fresh. If you're a fan of Thai basil pork rice, this is definitely worth visiting. Highly recommended, and I'll definitely be coming back for another bowl soon!

I had Pad Krapow with double eggs and extra chicken. I thought I was hungry but it was too much for me. Finished it anyway as I did not want to waste. 🫣 The good thing here is you can choose the level of spiciness. I found out level 3 works fine for me. It was not too spicy. I could still add some cut red chilies in Thai fish sauce to give a bit of saltiness to the dish The runny double egg yolk provides some moistness to the otherwise dry stir fried minced chicken. Overall, it was an average Pad Krapow. Nothing special which you can’t get in other Thai food stalls. Price is reasonable for the quantity

Too oily and too sweet despite ordering spicy level 4. Jurong outlet tasted better but the portion size was smaller. Even so, basil king in SG is nowhere near the standard in BKK.
