Ajumma used to be our favourite place for Jjangmyeon, and we’d happily queue no matter how long the wait was. So we were quite excited today when we arrived at 5.30pm and found there was no queue. Unfortunately, the food was a disappointment. The Jjangmyeon arrived extremely watery, with what looked like 4–5 scoops worth of excess noodle water sitting in the bowl. I requested a replacement, and the service staff agreed that it was too watery. However, when the dish was returned, it seemed that they had simply poured away the excess water rather than preparing a fresh bowl. The sauce was already diluted and lacked the rich flavour we used to enjoy. The other two dishes we ordered were acceptable, but we could still notice a difference compared to previous visits. Even my 7-year-old son, who usually enjoys the black noodles, commented that “it’s not nice anymore.” It’s disappointing to see the standard of the food change at this outlet. We have always been loyal customers and hope this was just an off day rather than the new normal.

The bulgogi looked a bit dry but was actually soft and tender. For the kimchi ramyeon, you can choose pork or chicken and I went with chicken. The bowl came with tofu slices, a small bunch of enoki mushrooms, half a tamago egg, plenty of kimchi, and a decent portion of chicken. It was really spicy, had me perspiring throughout, which took away a bit of the enjoyment. Banchan is refillable, which is a nice plus. One downside: they don’t accept credit cards. Only cash, NETS, PayLah!, or PayNow.

Dropped by Ajumma’s at Waterway Point and had a really good experience. Was really craving for their food after a brutal long run and they took us in despite it being 30mins to closing time. Food came out quick, portions were generous, and everything tasted comforting and well-seasoned. Absolute top notch service by the staff as well which refilled our drinks despite the kitchen closing and allowing us to stay on to finish the meal in peace. The kimchi and side dishes were fresh, and the mains were hearty without being too heavy. The spicy fried ramyeon was really on point too. Service was friendly and efficient even during the busy period, and the space felt comfortable for a casual meal. Overall a solid spot for affordable, tasty Korean food within the neighborhood. Will definitely come back again.

Ordered the army stew. Made from very high quality y ingredients eg sausage spam. Good value. The egg also good. Too bad I didn’t take an earlier photo. Special mention to Alva. Very attentive service from her.

Affordable, flavourful, quick and great service, nothing more i could ask for. One of the best korean restaurants. They recently made improvements to their menu. Feels novel and great to know they’re updating their menu. Looking forward to new stuff every now and then!
