Tipo Pasta Bar — Aliwal

Went with low expectations given the recent mixed reviews on Google. Also the word Al dente had us spooked, since our tryst with Al dente cooked pastas hadnt gone so well in the past. We ordered a Feta dip and a Cherry tomato olive oil dip. It was served with Focaccia. The Feta dip was lovely. Mildly sweet with a dash of honey and the tomatoes in it were yummy. Conflicted on how many pastas to order - given the Kampong glam Ramadan Bazaar was nearby and we wanted to go check it out later, we decided to go with 2 pastas. One pink sauce orecchiette and a pesto mafaldine. Chose a different set of toppings for both.. It was luvvvly for want of a better word. Both the sauces were brilliant, and the pasta was cooked well. The pasta dominated the taste and the toppings complemented nicely ( which is how it should be) Service was okayish, and ambience was decent. There wasn't much of a crowd, patrons were scattered around so good place to have a chat or a catch-up !

The cafe has a cosy vibe to it but unfortunately there was no air-conditioning which made the experience a bit mellow. Coming to food, the mushroom pasta was really good and we loved it! The pesto gnocchi was very salty. When I told the staff about it, they simply said it's meant to be this way. They weren't rude but this is poor customer service, a lack of empathy. We will not be coming back here.

Food was like a normal pasta place. The pasta was quite chewy. Service was really bad... quite disappointed with the staff who was at the front. We were late for the reservation & told him. He said that they don't call if we are late or to confirm the slot as "they want the money so they just cancel & give away the reservation." Our food took 45mins to arrive. Drinks came only when we were almost done. Thankful for Ahmed who actually was nice and courteous. Definitely won't return to this place

First time trying out their pasta after reading the Google reviews. You get to select the type of pasta. Ordered their Absolute Alfredo, Seafood Sensation and Truffle Fries. We added toppings to one of the pasta. Could only commended that the truffle fries was the best of the 3 dishes. Both pasta were nothing outstanding and the tiger prawns were tiny. Total damage was $81+ (included tax) for two persons. Food wise rating at 3.4/5. It would be high just based on truffle fries.

Am amazing and affordable place for lunch. The pasta was top quality, packed with flavour and nuanced control of herbs. The Arriabata had some good heat to it, so the addition of a generous dollop of burata really complemented it well. Thanks so much Tipo!
