"It'll be okay." "I've finally found it!" It was the moment I saw a ray of hope that my three-year-long worries might be resolved. It's been over 30 years since I left Hiroshima. My parents' home was neglected after my parents passed away three years ago. Aggressive plants sprouted from two gardens. While I was pondering whether to sell or use the property, the pine trees, roses, and other trees grew enormous. Ivy plants grew on the neighboring property. Even before I inherited the property, I had asked a local handyman to mow the grass about once a year, but it didn't solve the problem, and the plants just kept growing larger and larger. After removing all the items from my parents' home, I, who live outside the prefecture, haven't been back to Hiroshima since the COVID-19 pandemic, and it had become a typical neglected home. The area was then leveled with concrete (reinforced), and a parking space and a chain gate were installed in place of the gate. ④ The air conditioner's outdoor unit, installed 50 years ago and posing a danger to pedestrians if it fell, was removed from the second floor. First, I searched online for various handymen in Hiroshima City, but none could handle all of the above. After expanding my search to areas outside Hiroshima City, I came across PIVOT's website. I timidly called them and asked, "It's far away, but can you take on requests in Minami-ku, Hiroshima?" They gladly agreed and helped with various requests. My request required extensive construction knowledge—not only weeding the garden, but also removing ivy from the roof and second-floor walls, stonework in the garden, removal of soil, laying concrete to allow cars to enter, and installing a chain gate—but they carefully answered each request, and after providing me with an estimate, I was satisfied and they began work. However, as I live outside the prefecture and was unable to be present at the site, I never had any worries as I received regular photo updates and phone calls via LINE. They went beyond the scope of a handyman and handled a wide range of tasks, not just mowing the ground but also using heavy machinery and renovating the exterior. If, like me, you have moved out of the prefecture and are having trouble managing your parents' home, why not give them a call? However, as they are very busy, please make sure you allow them plenty of time (several months) before making a request. I am very satisfied.
