Noteworthy: they moved locations. They are now on the main drag. We first tried Pirates at their old location a couple years back. We come every year to the dauphin Island so we had to try their new location. We ordered the blue crab balls, fried okra, blackened shrimp Caesar salad, the blackened oyster dinner with beans. The blue crab balls were phenomenal. They were so good. We ordered two orders. Doing a great job driving the food was four out of five stars. I would say the service was probably two out of five stars. Our server wasnβt very tentative and was tucked behind the main booth what seemed like the majority of the time. Fun environment, definitely friendly for small kiddos. We had our baby with us which they accommodated. All in all a good experience. We will more than likely be back again.
Some great food on Dauphin Island. Some of the great things we had were crab cake balls (mostly crab with very little filler and very light) shrimp ceasar salad (the shrimp were perfectly cooked), blackened shrimp bacon lettuce and tomato (perfectly flavored and cooked shrimp) and blackened oysters plate (terrific flavor). In the interest of managing expectations, the food is terrific and we'll be back next time we are on the island, but portion sizes are not huge. They are ok, but the blackened oyster plate had 11 oysters. But it is only $19 which seemed reasonable. And ALL of their seafood is locally caught.
Amazing location and great view. The building is in need of a refresh, but it is historical and I get that. Loved the two tier round view of the building overlooking the inlet. The staff were nice. The food was good. We had chicken club and the burger, each came with 2 sides, but we were upcharged for the salad (not noted on menu). If I was in the area, I'd go again.
We got sat immediatly, waited 10 minutes for a server. Took 40 min for our food to come out. The cheesburger with side of beans were good. The grilled shrimp dinner and the seafood platter were seasoned so much, they were hard to eat. We tried to wipe some off, we ate what we could and left.
We can't say enough about the excellent food and the excellent service by Anke. I didn't get any pictures of the food because we were hungry and didn't wait to photograph itπ€£ but it was some of the best and freshest seafood we've ever eaten. I had a mixed seafood plate with fried fish, fried oysters and fried shrimp, with a side of garlic green beans. My wife had the flounder ponchatrain, which was delicious also. The building is very old school architecture built in 1957 and has survived many hurricanes, where other local buildings have not. A charming spot to take your significant otherπ
