Had a great dinner at Nanyang Lala Pot! The mala soup base was rich, spicy, and very flavorful ,perfect for mala lovers. The ingredients were fresh and well-prepared, especially the sliced meat and vegetables. Everything tasted delicious and satisfying. Nice atmosphere and good service as well. Overall, a very enjoyable dining experience. Highly recommended!
The comfortable and clean environment was made better with good music for chatting. The live music created a relaxed atmosphere, perfect for unwinding after a busy week. Their broth had a deep, satisfying flavor that was a delightful surprise. I enjoyed the clams, which were plump and sweet, making every bite satisfying. The location was convenient, making it a must-visit spot for music lovers.
Visited Nanyang Lala Pot today 9 May around 7pm–8pm for a company gathering dinner with 9 pax at the outdoor seating area, and unfortunately it turned out to be a very disappointing experience. At first we requested to be seated indoor but was told that the indoor space are unable to accomodate 9 paxs. We are arranged to sit outdoor despite we inform that we dont mind to be seated seaparately. Halfway throughout the meal, there were many flying insects around our table. Insects were found inside the hotpot, drinks, food, and even in our eating bowls. Some insects even flew onto our bodies causing itchiness and discomfort while eating. What shocked me the most was when I was scooping the soup from the hotpot and discovered insects floating inside my bowl and also in the soup pot itself. It was extremely unpleasant and completely ruined our appetite. Service was also not very friendly and there was no proper service recovery. Despite the situation, there was no apology, no discount, and no sincere effort to handle the issue professionally. The staff only offered to replace the pot, but by then we already could not continue eating due to the hygiene concern. Food quality was below expectations as the soup taste was quite disappointing. Prices were also expensive with no promotion available. We saw a Facebook post advertising a $9.90 promotion, but were informed it would only start the next day. Another frustrating issue was the slow serving timing. We ordered 3 lala pots for 3 groups among 9 people, but the serving was extremely delayed. The first group almost finished eating before the last pot was even served. The last group added a raw prawn paste order, but before it arrived, we noticed even more insects flying into the hotpot. We requested to cancel the additional dishes since they were not served yet and we no longer dared to eat, but the staff rejected the cancellation saying the kitchen had already started preparing. Overall, the entire dining experience was disappointing and not worth the money spent. Hygiene, service, food quality, and handling of customer concerns all fell below expectations.
Not gonna lie, it’s really hot in Singapore, so any place that makes me willingly eat a steaming hot claypot is doing something right. This Nanyang lala claypot smelled amazing the moment we sat down. Nothing fancy here — just solid, comforting flavors. The clams were fresh and meaty, and the soup was super savory. Hot claypot + cold drink + sweating a bit actually felt pretty satisfying. The Chinese sausage fried rice was a surprise hit. Lots of lap cheong and cured meat, very fragrant, and every grain of rice was well coated with flavor. Paired with the lala soup, it was hard to stop eating. Hot, hearty, and worth it. Would come back.
Food & ambience don't match so just focus on d lala claypot when u r here :) Classic lala claypot @$19.90++ stated 1 kg of lala. No charcoal fire n cooking gimmick since we opted to sit indoor, with air-conditioning. Soup broth is not too thick, just right for us. Pricing of other items like add-ons (meat $9.90++, veg $3.90++, processed $5.90++) n cooked dishes ($12.90++) r ridiculously expensive -1*. Other than d lala, quality of food is average -1* If mgt is willing to lower d pricing, just focus on d lala claypot. Staff were prompt in serving n gave necessary explanation. We were v much left on our own to enjoy our food but they were also quick to clear d empty "plates" away. During payment, we were made to head over to d cash register n stand next to a strong fire charcoal stove placed within 1 m of d cash register. d setup was alr thoughtless n when we explained our concern of fire safety n d heat, d cashier cldnt understand us?!?! This really spoilt d entire good dining experience we had earlier. Suggest recommendation as capacity is not big.
