Mel's Place Restaurant & Bar

Mel's Place Restaurant is fantastic! 🤩 I loved that they let my dog dine with us. The sliced beef, seafood spaghetti, and rack of lamb were all so delicious. 🍝 The staff were super nice and even friendly to my furry friend! 🐶

Mel’s Place Restaurant & Bar sits along East Coast Road in a pleasant and convenient location, with easy access and breezy surroundings. Unfortunately, beyond the setting, the overall experience did not quite live up to expectations. I visited twice on consecutive Sundays. On my first visit on 25 Jan 2026, the food was genuinely enjoyable. The Chicken 65, their take on Indian fried chicken, was tender and juicy. The duck salad was fresh and well-balanced. The Hokkien mee had decent wok hei, and the spicy sliced beef was tender with a nice sour kick. Based on this experience, I left impressed and decided to sign up for Poket, their partner rewards programme. A few days later, I received a Poket notification stating that I had been awarded a $10 sign-up voucher, a one-for-one birthday voucher, and a 20 percent discount during my birthday month. As my birthday falls on Feb, I returned the following Sunday (1 Feb). This time, I ordered the duck salad again, fried beef hor fun, and a tom yum seafood pizza. The duck salad remained good. However, the fried beef hor fun was disappointing, with tough beef and an overly salty dish overall. The tom yum seafood pizza was also extremely salty, to the point of being unbalanced. When I enquired about the $10 welcome voucher and birthday privileges, I was told that Poket had made a mistake and that the matter would be escalated to them. From a customer’s perspective, this explanation was unsatisfactory. The privileges were clearly stated in black and white, and I felt the restaurant should have honoured them, or at least made an effort to offer an alternative gesture of goodwill. Unfortunately, that did not happen. While the staff were polite and pleasant throughout, I left feeling short-changed. I have attached screenshots of what was reflected in Poket, as well as receipts from both visits, for transparency. Given the relatively high prices and the uncertainty over whether rewards and vouchers will be honoured in future, I do not see myself returning anytime soon. Overall, my experience at Mel’s Place was disappointing. I would encourage fellow diners to do their own research before visiting. I would rate this restaurant 3 stars.

Mel Place, a traditional Irish style pub with a high bar counter, live band, pool table, outdoor and indoor seating, serving chilled beer, stout, wine, brandy, whisky and all sorts of cocktails. Delicious food suitable for a decent family dinner or just bar snacks to munch on in between beers. Such pub are usually located in town, or where a lot of "ang-mo" goes to, Mel Place located in the beautiful vintage village between Katong & East Coast. Suitable for family, including kids. For the Gen X, you will be excited to know that every songs played by the band are from our era. The 80s to 90s rock forever.

Delicious food at reasonable prices, friendly service, nostalgic setting.. An enjoyable brunch experience.

Our food was amazing! We had the tenderloin steak, and it was absolutely delicious—perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The outdoor seating area is beautiful and creates the perfect atmosphere for dinner. We had a fantastic evening, and our waiter, Lawrence, made the experience even better with his friendly and attentive service. Highly recommended—we’ll definitely be back!
