We had a wonderful evening at Martina’s Kitchen in the charming Seletar Aerospace Park. The atmosphere was a standout, thanks to a fantastic live acoustic duo. These two singers were incredibly talented and so accommodating with our song requests, which made our night! Enjoying a bottle of wine and some Highland Park whiskey while listening to them was the nice way to unwind; the drinks paired beautifully with the bold flavours of the food. The menu has some really creative highlights. The Fruits Rojak was a refreshing surprise, especially the crispy crabstick topping which added a great savory crunch. The Kueh Pie Tee (4 pieces for $12) was a delicious starter (just be sure to tuck in quickly while they’re hot and crispy!), and the Dry Laksa was absolutely packed with rich, authentic flavor. We also enjoyed the Steam Assam Red Snapper, which hit all the right tangy notes. While the Nyonya Curry Duck was a bit on the chewy side and the Chendol ice could have been a finer shave, the overall experience was still very positive. The unique touch of mango in the Chendol was a lovely, refreshing finish. Highly recommend this spot if you’re looking for great music and a relaxed, soulful dinner! We enjoyed it!
Great brunch dining experience! Arrived at 10.30am on Sunday and was the first customer there till the next table came in at around 11.30am. It can't be emphasized enough how rare it is to be able to slowly dine with great food, great service, and comfortable ambience without any crowd in jam packed Singapore. It isn't mentioned in the menu, but the full menu is already available once the restaurant opens at 10am on weekends, not just the breakfast menu. This means we are able to eat a whole host of peranakan dishes for brunch! Also, we were able to park just few steps away from the entrance, making it very convenient to bring elderly family members here to dine. The belinjo crackers with sambal paste was delicious. The sambal paste wasn't very spicy so I could pair this yummy paste with every dish. The fruits rojak focused more on the fresh fruits and crispy crab sticks and used a light paste/gravy, so we enjoyed the rojak without being overwhelmed by the paste. The highlights were the duck curry and the crisp prata, each prata the size of the palm of my hand. Would definitely reorder the duck curry and replace the rice with prata again! Prata was crisp on the outside and just right on the inside. Just the right thickness to dip in the fragrant duck curry. The chicken and duck meat were all tender and fell off the bone easily. I could separate all the meat easily into the bowl and toss the bones before starting on the meal.
First time trying out this restaurant. The ambience was awesome. The Chinese oldies played really brought us back to the 1970s and the 1980s. Even the interior decor was matching. Food-wise, we generally enjoyed the food. I especially liked the Lemongrass Chicken and the Kueh Pie Tee! Ps: Live band on Saturday nights :)
Came with my in laws to celebrate a birthday, and I must say overall this place is decent and I would most probably come back and bring my grandma who’s a peranakan to try the next time around. There were hits and misses with the food, would still recommend to try what you want to try but here’s my take on it. Kueh Pie Tee was great, but they already pre fixed how much chilli/ condiments in it, personally I prefer it spicier but this was already very decent. The nonya chap chye here is a tad lighter in flavor compared to other places who serve it however, I kinda loved it and it gives you a home cooked feeling which I absolutely adore. Somehow the flavor it just flows. Curry duck was a tad dry as expected but still ok. Lemongrass chicken was great it may look plain but it’s prolly one of the better dishes here. For the sambal petai, it was harder/crunchier than most places and I’m sure some people might love it some people might prefer it to be a tad softer. The HBH okra were the bomb, definitely a great combination together simply loved it. Udang lemak nenas, pineapple gravy prawn was my favorite of the night. It’s also a rarer dish imo in peranakan places and I absolutely loved it. Will come back again cause of this. The omelette was basic but yeah always a joy to have egg dishes. Service wise they were great at times but somehow they seem to be understaffed and it can take awhile before the busy servers get to you. For the ambience they had singers singing which was a great idea but it was a little too loud and definitely during their gigs you couldn’t talk to each other. All in all 4 would be an accurate rating in my opinion and I would definitely be back for the Udang!
Superb Ambience If there is one thing I would remember about this place it’s the ambience. Love the golden chairs and wooden tables. The yellow lighting was exactly what the place needed. The crowd is not a rowdy one, not at least on the day I visited. The food is decent. I found the otah outstanding. Kueh Pie Ti was good too. The others were alright. There is a bar there so a selection of cocktails and mocktails are also available. However, there are only 3 desserts on the menu. And on the day I was there 2 were not available. This was kind of disappointing. Service was attentive and efficient. Service staff knew what they were doing. Despite the kinks, they kept the show going.
