The food is delicious, I can imagine having these dishes at a nice restaurant. Tried and liked everything that’s on the menu, my favorite is chicken provençale, mussles and truffles fries! Kids love the pizzas! I wish Alain every success! And we will definitely be coming back again and again:)
Very lovely birthday meal for a friend and the owner is friendly and funny! The portions were huge but we were super hungry! We managed to “polish off” every morsel. I like especially the potatoes, abit burnt at the edges and tasty, the pilaf rice (reminds me of nasi ulam), the slightly aromatic herbal seafood stew Bouillabaisse, Chicken Provacale and Gnocchi pasta basically all that I ordered for eat-in and also tarbao a Pizza and the total bill came up to $41.. such a value meal. Totally agreed this is a great spot to try classic French comfort food without the high prices of a restaurant.
Always excited to see non-Asian, non-Fusion cuisine in our hawkers and food courts. For such a global city, many Singaporeans still don’t have the opportunity to expand their palate outside of local dishes. And such joints enrich our heartland dining culture so well, and bring that much-needed access to people! For that reason alone, I want them to succeed. Having them side-by-side elevates our local cuisine too. Service was fantastic. Always with a smile and a “thank you for your order” to each customer. Genuine and friendly. Came around to chat with several tables, just to check in and have a little conversation. Restaurant level hospitality in a food court is so pleasantly unexpected and very welcome. We had the Chicken Provençal and the Bouillabaisse. At $8.90 and $12 that’s insane value. Almost impossible with how expensive ‘western’ ingredients are in this city. I tried my hand making a bouillabaisse+rouille a few months back at home. The ingredient cost price was already $20pp, so I would have had to sell it at $40 in their shoes! Very good job with the pricing constraints. I would revisit to try other items. Of course, based on my limited knowledge of both dishes, there are some reasonable ingredient substitutions made. The Chicken Provençal had sliced chicken thigh pieces instead of the hearty whole pieces, and I don’t think I caught the complexity of deglazing wine nor the olives. Understandable and still good though. In the Bouillabaisse, my wild guess is they reduced the fennel and switched the saffron for turmeric. That went a little too far towards Indian curry territory for me, and covered the sweetness of the fish. Perhaps sweet paprika might be a better colour sub. They’ll know their cuisine better of course, and perhaps it’s a regional variation I’m not aware of, so just a humble suggestion!
Excellent food and service. I particularly love the gnocchi with fresh seafood. Creamy with herbs and a slice of lemon (which elevates the dish). Very reasonably priced for the quantity and quality. Have tried other items in the menu and they have not disappointed. The chef takes pride in his cooking and it shows in his food. A hidden gem!
Read good reviews about this place and since it's near home, I've got the chance to try it today. The gentleman believed to be the chef/boss, was really friendly to greet us and patiently explained and described to us on today's specials (off-menu). Ordered the bangers and mash, really lovely. Mashed potato was so silky and creamy + yummy sauteed onions & brown mushroom sauce. The price is really reasonable for the quality of food. Hope more people get to try it.
