Jagalchi Market

Really big fish and seafood market. Many suppliers on level 1 and the eatery kitchens are on level 2. You see something you like, you can proceed to the seller respective kitchen on level 2. Menu is standard on level 2, same pricing. I ate at staff 36. Friendly staff. They also throw in a free seafood pancake which was very nice. In fact nicer than the mains. Oops! Busan has great food and better than many parts of Seoul! Try it if you are visiting Jagalchi Market.

Went for breakfast since hotel is just a stone throw away. Visited stall 210 and wanted to get a king crab. The owner suggests that we get snow crab(1.6kg)since there is only 2 of us and might not be able to finish the king crab (2.5kg). We are glad that we took his advise and we add on 4 sea urchin, 6 giant cockles, 1 eel. Total cost is about 85 SGD. which we think is value worth. We were brought to the second level where we sit and choose how we wanted the seafood to be cooked. The cooking stall charges a fixed fee per head. The fee depends on your choice of cooking. We paid another $15 for the cooking. Total cost $100 SGD which includes a Korean rice wine. Overall the seafood is fresh and the eel deep fried and season with salt and pepper is something we have not tried before. The texture is chewy, unlike the Japanese teriyaki eel which is soft. Highly suggest to tried the eel.

29/12/25 - 4.5 stars Busan is known for their seafood and Jagalchi market is probably the biggest one. Coming in the late morning on a weekday, it was relatively empty. I like how much choice there is, however, don't really like how aggressive the marketing is. It's a bit odd how all the restaurants upstairs have the same menu. Was a bit tricky to decide which one to go. Not sure which one we ended up eating at, but, it was pretty good. Seafood pancake Flavour: SS, 9/10. Well balanced earthy vegetables and umami squid. Texture: SS, 9/10. Crispy but a bit oily. Marinated crab Flavour: S+, 8.5/10. Gochujang based marinade was a bit too heavy on the gochujang but still good. Some other spices/flavour would be nice. Texture: SS, 9/10. Crab was well prepared but some pieces still icy. Live raw octopus: S+, 8.5/10. Taste isn't anything to write home about but definitely a food experience. Grilled seafood: SS, 9/10. Overall solid but some pieces were a bit sandy.

The freshest seafood in life 'The Jagalchi market is a paradise for fish lovers. We took a set of sashimi and grilled fish. The taste is not comparable to any restaurant in the center. The portions are huge, and they bring a lot of free snacks (panchang) to the main order. Yes, there is a specific smell and it can be wet underfoot, but it gives the place a special flavor. Prices are transparent, there are many cozy tables on the second floor. I recommend coming here for lunch for a walk along the promenade afterward.'

Jagalchi Fish Market in Nampo district is the biggest seafood market in South Korea. There are hundreds of stalls selling all kinds of fishes, squids, shellfish, seaweeds, and everything else from the sea. It is clean, orderly and has a lively atmosphere. We can buy the fishes and have them cooked for a fee in the restaurants upstairs. We can also go up to the viewing platform on the 7th floor of the building for a panoramic view of the port and the surrounding areas. Personally, it is definitely a place not to miss in Busan.
