Hawkers' Street @ BPP

Visited Bukit Panjang food court recently. There is a good variety of food choices and prices are reasonable. However, it gets very crowded during peak hours and seating can be hard to find. Waiting time at some stalls was quite long. Overall, decent place for a quick meal if you come at a less busy time.

I simply love the Hawker’s Street concept — it’s incredibly convenient and a real win for residents in this area. IMHO, Hawker’s Street works better for me because it brings together some of the best foodie stalls under one roof, making it easy to satisfy different cravings in one visit. This time, I tried the following: 1. Wok Hei Hor Fun — ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️½ The Sliced Fish Hor Fun had a strong wok hei, while the sliced fish and choy sim added a nice balance with a comforting, savoury broth and meaty texture. The Lala Assorted Bee Hoon was smooth and slurpy, topped generously with seafood goodness — lala, prawns, and other seafood that made every bite satisfying. 2. Kaki Makan — ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️½ The Iced Longan had that nostalgic, old-school flavour — refreshing and not overly sweet. They also serve a solid cup of tea, with just the right milk texture so the tea remains smooth without any bitter aftertaste. Overall, a very enjoyable visit and definitely a place I’d return to for comfort food cravings.

Hawkers' Street at BPP is a fantastic concept, bringing some of the biggest and most famous hawker names in Singapore to the neighbourhood. I've had the chance to try four of their anchor stalls, and my experience has been consistently good, with one stall being truly exceptional. The absolute, undisputed star of this food court for me is Flourful Delight (吕记知味面点). This stall is a 5-star gem, hands down. Their Dan Dan Noodles are a revelation, one of the best I've had, with a perfect balance of peanut, chilli, and vinegar. I've returned multiple times, and their Zha Jiang Noodles and Pan-fried Dumplings are also of an exceptionally high standard. This stall alone is worth the trip. The other famous stalls are all solid 4-star options, though they each have minor inconsistencies that keep them from being perfect: Tai Wah Pork Noodles: A very solid bowl of BCM. The ingredients were all fresh and well-prepared, from the pork slices and liver to the dumplings. The meatball soup was also hearty and flavourful. The only letdown was that the noodles themselves were a little overcooked and soft for my liking on the day I visited. Pang's Hakka Yong Tau Foo: A unique, modern take on YTF. The ingredients are fresh, and the soup is clean and comforting (my wife loved the radish). The fried meatballs were also a highlight. However, the base seasoning for the noodles is very light, so you definitely need to add the provided sweet sauce and chilli to get a more robust flavour. Hill Street Hainanese Curry Rice: The ingredients here are the strong point, especially the braised pork belly, which was excellent. But the main event—the curry sauce—was surprisingly bland and lacked the lemak kick I expected, which was a real letdown for such a famous brand. Overall, Hawkers' Street is a fantastic addition to BPP and gets a solid 5-stars from me. It's clean, comfortable, and a great place to try a variety of famous foods. While the big-name stalls can be a bit of a mixed bag (generally great ingredients let down by a minor flaw in the base/sauce), the presence of a true 5-star gem like Flourful Delight makes the entire food court a must-visit. I will be back to try the other stalls!

Prices are definitely on the higher side here. It can be quite hard to find seats during peak lunch and dinner hours. The hill street mee pok is fantastic with its harder-than usual mee pok noodles. Portion size pictured here was $9+ but you can get the basic one for $5-6. The Redhill hor fun is also delicious with silky rice noodles that are slightly different from the norm. There is wok hei too so it was really tasty. Curry chicken noodles was only alright with a thin gravy base. Highlight was the tender chicken. Remember that seniors can get 10% off at the drink store. (Kopi o was rather thin.)

Came here for Flourful delights dumplings but there are not here anymore 🥲… so I tried the Hainanese curry pork cutlet rice I saw a lot of people were having. It’s honestly very average, similar to or worse than Encik Tan but with pork. The curry has no taste / spice, the veg also. Pork cutlet is ok, at least the rice is well cooked and served very warm.
