Location had the advantage of being quiet and close to a train station, although that was also an inconvenience as far from the main station and sometimes you need to wait for long for your train. Traditional house so fun experience (it was an old calligraphy school); as usual WC and shower are not ensuite. What we didn't like is that the owner was quite stingy; never before in 3 weeks we had to pay for towels, undo our futons + bring down ourselves our linen, or denied to accept our luggage transfer...

We had such an incredible time at Guesthouse Naramachi - the host was so welcoming and generous. The guesthouse is in a great location and very clean and homely with all the amenities you could need. We hope we will be able to come back to stay again ❤️ Emily and Cassie

Literally one of the cutest places I’ve stayed! I stayed for 3 days and was travelling by myself. I had a whole traditional room to myself and it was even crazier that the inn is 100 years old or more 😱 Shunju-San (The Owner) was so kind and fun to talk to. I will definitely be back soon 🥹

Couldnt be better, lovely people who runs it, very hospitable and friendly, gives you lots of information about places to go and what to do in Nara. We got a free upgrade to the best room in the house, on the first floor! Was our first night on tatami mats and it was sooo comfortable! I found it extra inviting as I enjoy folding origami and they have a display of pieces guests, including me, have folded and left behind, so maybe you wil find my sushi piece and square box rose if you visit 😊

Can only speak for the tea ceremony we did today with Mike but genuinely one of the best experiences weve had in our 3 weeks here and he is one of the nicest guys He kindly advised us that our chase of hotels in OSAKA and Tokyo were both a little edgy to say the least area wise.... 😂 Showed us so cool local tricks and tips and told us somewhere to go for ramen, great recommendation may I add NEXT on the main street it's in my other reviews
