Had a wonderful dining experience at Ember. The food was beautifully presented and full of flavour. The Amaebi Sashimi on tapioca cracker was unique and delicious, while the Pork Secreto was tender with a lovely smoky aroma. The Red Argentine Shrimp with squid ink risotto was another standout dish. The desserts were excellent too, especially the Pistachio Knafeh Cake. Service was attentive and the ambience was warm and perfect for a date night or special occasion. Would definitely return to try more dishes. Highly recommended! πβ¨
Had a really memorable dining experience at Ember. Easily one of the more underrated fine dining restaurants in Singapore with a great balance between modern European cuisine and Asian influences. Every dish felt thoughtful and well executed without being overly complicated. Ingredients were fresh, flavours were balanced, and plating was elegant while still feeling approachable. The seafood dishes especially stood out, and the desserts were surprisingly memorable as well. Service was polished, attentive, and warm throughout the meal. The staff explained each course confidently without making the experience feel too formal or intimidating. The ambience was also intimate and comfortable, making it perfect for date nights, anniversary dinners, or business meals in the CBD area. Special shoutout to the female host (whose name i can't recall). If youβre looking for a refined restaurant in Singapore with excellent tasting menus and quality service, Ember is definitely worth visiting.
Been here twice with two groups of friends and the food we ordered the second round awarded them the five stars π Atmosphere - perfect for (NON-ROWDY) intimate occasions with partner and/or friends. Love how the place is decorated! Food that we tried and loved ANGELHAIR PASTA : perfect balance of truffle to pasta, an always-order dish for me OYSTERS : perfection, the yuzu mignonette really cuts through and brings out the freshness of the oyster CEAB TOAST : refreshing, light and bouncy SQUID INK RISOTTO: yums! WILD GROUPOER TACO : omg yes! Must order! Love how the flavours are paired with the fish IBERICO PORK PLUMA : the charsiew inspired one; so perfectly tender and the richness of the sauce, chefs kisses I think dishes generally here are amazing! But above listed ones are the ones we REALLY LOVED. Canβt wait to be back but I already know weβll have a tough time balancing re-ordering dishes we love and exploring new dishes. Our friends say theyβll definitely be bringing people they wanna impress here too. Dishes here are slightly on the smaller side, although can still be split to one mouth per person for a group of four. Silver lining is you get to taste more dishes - so what we really like is just order a bunch of different dishes, and add more as we progress through the meal. This way, youβll figure what you like and which youβre gonna order again! Love it and seriously, Iβm finding every excuse to be back.
Decided to try this Woodfire place for a birthday celebration and the place was packed. Ordered a couple of their signature dishes and was certainly very impressed with their food. The prices are a little high especially for entrΓ©e but still, the ones we ordered were very tasty. Nothing too salty or over done. The risotto and beef was very good. They also have a very extensive wine list which is impressive.
Some restaurants impress you with complexity. Ember reminds you that restraint is much harder. From the first bite of bread with their house butters, you get a sense of their philosophy. Nothing is trying too hard. Inhouse smoked butter, distinct, deserving of the bread they're paired with. It's the kind of opening that quietly tells you you're in good hands. The scallop with capellini was probably the standout of the evening. A beautifully scallop sitting atop a tight nest of pasta, coated in what tasted like a deeply savoury umami emulsion. Rich enough to be satisfying, restrained enough that the sweetness of the scallop still came through. Elegant without feeling delicate. The grilled wings was another highlight. Perfectly cooked, with just enough char from the woodfire to add complexity without overwhelming the flesh. The sauce underneath carried warmth and spice, while the grilled lime added a welcome brightness that kept every bite balanced. Their octopus deserves a mention as well. Tender without becoming soft, carrying plenty of smoke from the grill, finished with a vibrant nam jin inspired herb dressing and a generous mix of roasted vegetables that added sweetness, texture and acidity. One of those dishes where every component actually earns its place. The pork secreto was unexpected. Deeply caramelised with beautifully doneness and char paired with grilled watermelon that wasn't just a gimmick. The watermelon brought freshness and subtle sweetness that cut through the richness surprisingly well. The foie gras was indulgent in all the right ways. Crisp exterior, silky centre, sitting on what felt like a buttery potato base with crisp pearls adding texture. Rich, yesβbut intelligently composed so it never became overwhelming. The beef was confidently executed. Perfect rare, excellent mastery, accompanied simply by jus. When the ingredient is that good, simplicity is usually the right decision. ( many many restaurants can never get a rare steak done right well) Best ive had in SG Dessert continued the same philosophy. A clean, classic tiramisu with good mascarpone flavour, restrained sweetness and enough bitterness from the cocoa to finish the meal comfortably rather than sending you into a sugar coma. What impressed me most wasn't a single dish. It was consistency. Every course felt like it belonged to the same restaurant. The woodfire wasn't there for theatricsβit was used as seasoning. Sauces were confident but never excessive. Nothing on the plate felt like it existed for Instagram. Every element had a purpose. In a dining scene where many restaurants try to surprise you with unusual combinations, Ember succeeds by refining the classics instead. It doesn't chase trends. It simply cooks exceptionally well. Please allow them to tantalise and flirt with your palate.
