Dunn-Gaherin's Food and Spirits

Hadn't been in a while, but went recently for a birthday dinner - SOOO good and an excellent value! Eggplant fries and steak tips as delicious as ever, and new (to us) steak frites was perfectly grilled, just as ordered, larger than in photo, and as good or better than the smaller version we had for $20 more at a premier steakhouse. Winter Paloma cocktail was wonderful - strong, but not too, and perfectly balanced and refreshing. Best is the hospitality of the servers, owners and the whole team - they sincerely want you to enjoy your evening out and are so welcoming and kind. We're not eating out as much b/c it's become so cost-prohibitive, but glad to have re-discovered an old favorite is even better than ever and worth every dollar. A true treat!

Our family had an absolutely fantastic experience dining here! We were vacationing in the area from Wisconsin, and the restaurant owner was so kind, accommodating, and welcoming. The food was fantastic (highly recommend the seafood cakes and pretzel bites) and the service from start to finish was wonderful. Such a great atmosphere to sit and enjoy a great meal with our young kids. Thanks so much, Shauna and crew!

We went to Dunn-Gaherins for a birthday dinner my son. Dunn-Gaherins has an outdoor patio space and they seem to have waiters and waitresses available. It was a nice space and not noisy like inside. Overall, the service was slow. There were eight of us and we ordered appetizers which came out quickly. Our meals, however, were delivered over the course of 1 hour. First the 2 Shepard pie came out. 10 minutes later three burgers arrived. Another meal arrived about another 10 minutes later. 30 minutes later we asked about the last two meals. The waitress went to check and indicated the order was lost. I was disappointed the staff did not notice that the table was missing meals. The waitress took the order again. 15 minutes later a fish sandwich arrived. The chicken fingers and fries for my grandson did not arrive until we were ready to pay the bill. He was eating off other plates. Definitely some problems in the kitchen with the expanded outdoor space. The staff should have been more attentive and notified us the kitchen was having problems keeping up. Dunn-Gaherins does take reservations but there is a call ahead list

Great hole in the wall stop at a Irish Pub/Diner. We stopped here for a late afternoon lunch. Parking is tight...luckily we found a stall right in front of the restaurant on the street. Service was excellent. Our server was quick with waters, menus, beers, etc. He did a great job tending to our table of 5. Food was really...really...really good. Probably the best meatloaf I've ever had! The meatloaf was moist and had tons of flavor. This hideaway in Newton, MA is a great place for some cold beer and excellent food!

A great restaurant! Had the pumpkin ravioli tonight it was phenomenal. All the staff says hello to us. Stellar service. Highly recommend. Definitely a jewel. Many thanks for the great experience for myself and my sweetheart. Christian F.
