Service was awfully weird from the start. Arrived early and asked to be seated, they told us we had to wait outside till our full party was there... but the store wasnt even half full. Anyway they let us in in the end. Another instance where we ordered 5 rice but wanted to cut it down to 4. The waitress gave us a very weird look and started tapping her own head. It's ok, i will eat the rice then πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’« Service aside, I think the food was good. I enjoyed most if not all the dishes.

Assam garoupa in claypot was unexpectedly good. Thick fillet with a rich tangy Assam curry. 5* Its signature Danggui duck did not disappoint. Duck was tender and Danggui sauce was well balanced and flavorful. 5* Ten wonder Herbal duck was a tad sweet and its sauce did not shjne through. 4* Lettuce was overcooked. 2* A whole array of menus which is mind boggling. On top of it, its terms and conditions of use complicate the entire process. 1* Customer's experience need to be rethought. Time for management to dine as paying customers to better understand its flow. Service team is friendly and patient. 5*

I recently dined at Dian Xiao Er in Woodlands, and it was nothing short of outstanding. From the moment I stepped in, I was greeted with warm smiles and genuinely attentive service. Every staff member carried themselves with a level of professionalism and hospitality that immediately made the place feel welcoming. The food was the true highlightβ€”each dish was thoughtfully crafted, rich in flavor, and beautifully presented. You can taste the quality and freshness in every bite. It’s rare to find a place where every item on the table exceeds expectations, but this restaurant managed to do exactly that. The environment was spotless and well-maintained, creating a comfortable and pleasant atmosphere for dining. It’s the kind of place where you can truly relax and enjoy your meal. Given the exceptional food quality, impeccable service, and clean environment, the prices are more than justified. I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a memorable and satisfying dining experience. A must-visit! πŸ‘

If you like your Chinese HongKong style roast meats, Dian Xiao Er restaurants (they are in many locations in Singapore) is the place to go for more upmarket style roasts. The roast duck with beautifully crispy skin is offered in 3 signature flavours - Angelica, 10 wonder herbs, and ginseng. The herbal flavours are subtle rather than overwhelming, and you can intensify the herbal flavours with the complementary sauce. The roast pork is also beautifully glazed and very tender. But do note that when the menu states β€œpieces”, one piece = one ~ 1 cm wide slice. Piece here does not refer to the whole piece hung on hooks in the window! Other dishes worth trying here are the Marmite Chicken - fried, battered chicken glazed with a Marmite (British Vegemite) sauce. It’s subtle and not overpowering - and the slightly spicy from black pepper Mongolian pork ribs. The Mongolian pork ribs are meaty too, if you’re wondering. Prices are on the higher side especially when the GST and Service charge are added in for eat-in but are IMHO worth it for the upmarket tweaks. Do NOT compare this to the cheap cafe and food court roast meats as that’s comparing apple and oranges.
