Chingu @ The Oval

Saw a youtuber taken lunch here so decided to try. Nice environment and I can bring my cat there , got discount too. Cannot sitting at the air con area because got pets but luckily the fan are strong enough for hot weather .

We had their lunch set and there was not much people there during lunch. Kimchi stew was quite tangy for some reason which we were not accustomed tobut its unique for sure. The Jajangmyeon portion was very generous and the toppings were abundant as well. I forgot to take photo of their kimchi pancake but i think their seafood pancake might be better. Overall the staff were very attentive and even gave us complimentary ice cream afterwards which was really nice🫪 Foods alright but hospitality was better than expected🥰

Service staff were atrocious, showing attitude the whole time and were curt as if we owed them. Unbefitting of such an expensive place. Food was above average at most. Would not recommend for the lack of respect shown.

The food was delicious and well prepared, with great flavour in every dish especially the tteokbokki, rosé or baked both are really good. Gabriel whom was our waiter for the night was really friendly and attentive as provided excellent service. Will definitely come back again with our dog ! 🤩

I brought my family to Chingu to enjoy a meal together. When we entered the restaurant, we were only the third group there. We ordered the Meat Lover Set (suitable for 2 to 3 pax), seafood pancake, and tofu seafood & pork soup. To be honest, the food quality during this visit was not up to standard compared to my previous visit with friends. The seafood pancake was overly cooked, dry, and contained very little seafood — I could hardly see any prawns or squid. The vegetables served only included lettuce, and there were no perilla leaves provided. As for the tofu seafood & pork soup, we could not find any seafood or pork in the soup. It mainly consisted of tofu, egg, and dried shrimp (虾米). While we were eating, the previous two groups had already left the restaurant. One of the staff then started playing heavy metal music, which I felt was very inappropriate while there were still guests (the 3 of us) dining in the restaurant. At the same time, several servers began packing away utensils, bowls, and plates very noisily. The environment became extremely uncomfortable. My mother, who is in her 80s, and my elder brother in his 50s had to tolerate the noise while eating. We ended up rushing through our meal and decided to leave as soon as possible. Before leaving, I asked for the complimentary Häagen-Dazs ice cream but was informed that it was out of stock. The lady server who attended to us kindly offered me a voucher for a free soup on my next visit. However, when I attempted to pay using the Grab Dine-In discount, I was told that it could not be used because it was Mother’s Day. If that is the case, the promotional poster displayed outside the restaurant and the standee at the cashier should have been removed or should clearly state that the promotion is not applicable on Mother’s Day. Overall, this visit was disappointing compared to my previous experience. The meal was also not cheap — it cost SGD223. I was not expecting such an experience, especially since it was my mother’s and brother’s first visit to Chingu.
