Still living up to its reputation for chicken rice since the old Mandarin Hotel days. The quality hasn’t skipped a beat—though the price has clearly been hitting the gym over the years. The oyster omelet was a pleasant surprise. On its own it leaned toward the savoury-salty side, but once it mingled with the chicken rice chilli, the dark sauce, and its own chilli sauce, the flavours basically threw a party in the mouth. Quite the oomph. Service was a mixed bag. We were lucky to be looked after by Julia, who was wonderfully attentive. She made sure our young daughter’s utensils were sorted before even checking on us. When the hotplate omelet arrived and I attempted a lightning-fast relocation to the middle of the table, I caught Julia in my peripheral vision already flying in to assist—clearly faster than my reflexes. That said, an interesting observation: while all the ladies on the floor were busy serving diners or doing housekeeping, the gentlemen seemed to be conducting a lively discussion just outside the kitchen. Perhaps this is the restaurant’s interpretation of the “chatter” in Chatterbox. All things considered, the food still delivers, the service has its bright spots, and we’ll certainly be back to try the other dishes. First time to Chatterbox at RWS on 3 June, visited the OG branch years ago. In my memory, it wasn’t this bad, or maybe the chef prep method is different. Chicken is quite tough and not well seasoned, the savory taste is from the soy sauce around the chicken. Chili also lack something, neither spicy nor flavorful. The seasonal veggies i.e. bok choy was prepared very well, crunchy too. Also ordered the seafood hokkien mee and BKT, both tasted better than the chicken. Not sure what happened to the chicken dish, it’s not a good representation of the brand. There are houseflies and tiny flies in the air conditioned restaurant hovering around our food at meal time, which is unacceptable in my opinion as a F&B establishment. Hope it gets better…
Had a fantastic meal at Chatterbox's new outlet at Resorts World Sentosa. Their legendary Signature Chicken Rice lived up to its reputation with tender chicken and fragrant rice. We also tried a great selection of their other dishes, all of which were delicious. The Seafood Hokkien Mee was rich with umami, and the Grilled Satay had a wonderful smoky flavor. The addictive Crispy Salted Egg Chicken Wings and the Stir-fried Beef with Ginger and Onions with its fantastic wok hei aroma were also great. The Stir Fried Prawn with Palm Sauce was a unique highlight with its bold, caramelized flavor. The space is also clean and modern. A great spot for a delicious Singaporean meal.
Just had a lovely dinner with colleagues at Chatterbox. What a meal!! The must have chicken rice will force me to come back here atleast once a month. Being served by Cindy, Alan & June was the cherry on top of the cake. So kind, humble and friendly. Made our meal experience top notch. Thank you team Chatterbox for this great experience.
The chicken was exceptionally tender, and the sauce was outstanding. The char kway teow also exhibited excellent wok hei and a generous amount of seafood. The experience was well worth the wait, and the service was brilliant.
