Everything was so mediocre. The lamb was very hard, even though it was ordered medium well. It tasted more like frozen lamb, lacked much gamey flavor (almost bland), and was very difficult to chew. The pork chop and chicken chop were okay. The pork rib had just the right tenderness and a generous portion. The side dishes felt so rushed/express-style, which overall didn’t match the price. Given the taste, quality, and price, we could get something better and more valuable at another Western cuisine restaurant which have few outlets, and even just having their side dishes with the mains would be nice enough. We probably will not be back, considering the quality at the current price.

Buddy Hoagies Café & Grill — Heartland Mall | 2/5 There’s something about a Western grill restaurant tucked in a heartland mall that feels comforting — unpretentious, wallet-friendly, no fuss. Buddy Hoagies at Heartland Mall ticks all those boxes on paper. In practice though, the experience left much to be desired. We ordered three dishes. The Chicken Truffle Alfredo was the only saving grace of the evening — spaghetti cooked to a decent consistency, and the sauce was creamy and reasonably flavourful. Not revelatory, but solid enough. Everything else, unfortunately, went downhill from there. The Fish & Chips arrived cold. Not “sat-on-the-counter-for-two-minutes” cold, but genuinely fridge-cold — that unmistakable frozen smell still lingering beneath the crumb coating. It tasted like it hadn’t been fully thawed before hitting the fryer. The Flame Grilled Chicken Chop had a similar problem — cold in the middle, as if it had skipped the defrost memo entirely. For a restaurant that has “grill” right there in the name, this was a bit of an own goal. And then there was the service. Dishes were landed on the table with a loud thud — not exactly the warm welcome you’d hope for. Staff would hard stare at tables as they walked past, creating an atmosphere that felt more hostile than hospitable. We held back from complaining, which honestly says a lot about how uncomfortable the whole experience felt. At these prices, you’d hope for at least the basics: food that’s hot, properly thawed, and served without the side of attitude. Buddy Hoagies missed all three that evening.

Staff is very accommodating and will do their best to accommodate our needs as we usually go as a big group; eg finding tables close together, splitting bills etc; Service has been prompt too

A very disappointing experience at Buddy Hoagies 🤬😠😤 This visit left a truly sour aftertaste — both literally and figuratively. The main issue was the food and the lack of care in service. I ordered a simple fish and chips, thinking it would be a safe and light option, but what arrived was an utter mess. The fish was burnt and overdone to the point where I couldn’t even swallow after the second bite. What made things worse was the complete indifference from the staff. Even after they could clearly see that my untouched plate sat on the table for nearly 20 minutes, no one bothered to ask if something was wrong or offer any assistance. I finally just paid and left in disappointment. I genuinely hate wasting food, but this was one of those rare occasions where I simply couldn’t eat what was served. Rest assured, I won’t be dining here again — and I’ll be sharing this experience with others so they can avoid the same disappointment.

Dropped by Buddy Hoagies at Heartland Mall for a casual meal, and it remains a fantastic, wallet-friendly spot for satisfying Western comfort food. We ordered the Flame Grilled Chicken combo which came with a beautifully charred, tender chicken thigh, paired with a scoop of savory rice and a classic foil-wrapped baked potato with sour cream. Simple, nostalgic, and well-executed. Also ordered Mac and Cheese for my daughter. It was incredibly rich, bubbly, and baked to cheesy perfection with a gorgeous golden-brown crust. Pure comfort food that hits the spot every single time. The ambiance is laid-back and perfect for a fuss-free family dinner, and the portions are excellent for the price. Will definitely be back when the craving for classic Western grills and cheese strikes!
