Aureus Academy at Thomson Plaza

My kid has been taking lessons at Aureus since 4-5 yrs old (she is 14 yrs old now). We started at the Forum branch. It had been a good experience then (customer service was efficient, change of teachers were mininal etc). Then the change of teachers became more frequent, but we thought just continue since the kid still wanted to learn. We moved to the Thomson plaza branch when there was another change of teacher few years back. Within a year, there was change of teachers twice. And the switch wasn’t smooth too, disruptions in timings etc. customer service was also bad. After that, we found a suitable slot with Tr Siew Lee in 2024. She is really a good teacher at this branch, helpful, and she settles the lesson make ups etc (grateful for her help) so my kid stays with her till now. Then this June, I realised there were 2 invoices for payment. I went to the counter to clarify, was told that this was charge of deposit that wasn’t charged back in 2024. I showed them the invoice of the deposit paid in 2024. The customer service asked if I had received any refund before (expecting me to check my credit card bills from 2024 till 2026??!) The funniest part came when I showed them the deposit paid invoice dated in 2024, the customer service asked me if the latest invoice by them could be deposit charge for another child I enrolled. (I only have one child, by the way 🙄) I am still waiting for them to check & get back to me on this. Aureus’s way of collection of fees isn’t like other learning centres. Some teachers at Aureus are good, no doubt. But their standard of admin etc has deteriorated over the years. Expand too fast, no consistency in service standards anymore.

My daughter has been attending piano lessons with teacher Long shibei. She enjoys her lessons and looks forward each week to her lesson. The branch is also kids friendly with colouring activities provided to keep the kids occupied while waiting for lessons. Great experience.

My twins have been learning at this school since they were 3.5 years old. Recently they had their recitial with their respective teachers, Teacher Kim May and Teacher Bennyer. They are both very good teachers and my twins enjoy their weekly lessons with them. My girl takes up violin while my boy takes up piano.

Really bad customer service at Thomson. I haven’t even enrolled yet! No reply after I have replied to their message to confirm trial class. No follow up after reminders. Went to their site and nobody at the front desk…. Interesting plc, teachers are nice I believe. Pls work on the front facing staff.
