1036 Live Seafood

First time visiting here with my Queen’s extended family, turns out it’s a very wonderful place with surprising decent food. Only the fried baby squids are worth returning for, the rest are average dishes that I can find everywhere else. The inconsistency is something we feedback to the staff but instead of doing PR immediately by “thank you for feedback, we will convey this to our management and chefs”, they started arguing that the inconsistency in sizes of the pork is not their fault as they order from outside, if the taste is different we will accept but not the size of the pork. The other staff was quick to react well and changed it for us. Kudos to the male staff in blue and specs. Noticed all other tables having satays, maybe we will try it if we ever return :)

The final bill shocked all of us. 😱😱😱 each and everyone were just stunned. Food-wise, everything was just normal. Nothing stood out, nothing particularly memorable, and certainly nothing that justified the prices we ended up paying. Not Even near..... Scallops at $75, lala at $50, curry fish head at $56... the prices were an eye-opener. I honestly don't recall paying this much at other seafood places, even some of the more established ones. What's even more surprising is that the restaurant is tucked away in ulu Sembawang. Its really deep n far. We expected seafood prices, but not to this extent. Can't imagine what the bill would have looked like if we had ordered crabs and other premium seafood items. It's one of those places where you go once, experience it, and that's enough. For us, this was by far the most expensive seafood meal relative to what we got in return, and unfortunately one of the poorest value-for-money dining experiences we've had. An expensive lesson learned. One visit is enough.

I’ll be honest. The food here is edible and okay, but not to the extent of being delicious. Personally, I would choose other zichar restaurants over this one. • Pork Rib with Special Sauce: Probably the best dish of the night, nicely done. • Brinjal: Quite meh, nothing special. • BBQ Stingray: Disappointing — dry and lacking sauce. • Satay: Also underwhelming. • You Tiao with Salad Sauce: Hard in texture, not enjoyable. Service was also not great. Even with fewer than 5 tables occupied, it was hard to get their attention, and their tone came across as a little unhappy to serve and while eating the house fly kept coming over which they can improve on They did give me a complimentary tofu dish (since I left a review), and to be fair, the tofu was nice! But overall, for $60++, the food and service just don’t feel worth it.

Came here to celebrate Mother's day dinner with my family. Place was 1/3 full when we walk in at 545pm in the evening. The good tables, indoor ones with aircon were all reserved, even the ones with fans were also taken. So on public holidays or weekends make sure to place a reservation before coming. Food wise was pretty decent, some dishes were slightly bland for me but those health conscious people like my mum enjoyed them well. They forgot about our hotplate venison dish until we reminded them. We asked if the water chestnut drink was homemade and they said yes, in the end when we drank it we could tell it was made with the syrup. Service wise they were pretty quick. This is a pretty old establishment but things are still working. Overall a very nice meal we had, will be back for their meal again.

one of the worst zichars i’ve had in singapore. chilli crab sauce was so weird, sweet and sour pork had too much sauce. chai po egg was still gooey in the middle. can’t read the room as well, we were still eating and they decided to plop a bowl of free grass jelly on our table …?????? food came out super fast, all dishes within 5 mins, but… the quality? heard that the food used to be better but it’s really quite bad now, won’t be coming back.
